Well, it depends on the school, doesn't it?
If we are dealing with a public school, then I would not question the teacher's decision, rather I would question the school board's policy around what it does and does not condone, and I would take the matter up at that level. And if, in fact, no such policy existed, then the principal or superintendant concerned is perfectly capable of enforcing policy on wayward teachers.
On the other hand, if we are dealing with a confessional school, there where is it my place to question what the church running the school does and does not condone? I'm not a parent; if I were a parent I wouldn't put my child in such a school.
