So, they saved up for something nice. Or maybe it was a gift. As if poor people are somehow forbidden to have nice things. What's the point?

Or they got it from tax money.

Meaning from social security or welfare? Only, again, if they saved their pennies. I seriously doubt anyone could buy a big screen TV in one lump sum of their benefits, and still eat and pay rent.

From the state and federal. Everyone gets taxes back every year when they are employed. When you have children, you get more back, same as when you are married.

I apologize if I came across as overly sharp in my response; I'm currently battling high blood sugar, and have been hungry as a bear - and just as moody.

That's how my wife and I describe ourselves. Makes our lifestyle seem a bit romantic.

How many other people on the planet are living at poverty level?
My income is below poverty level but compared to some places I have it pretty good.

Billions up billions live in squalor. Most of those are not in North America.

Things are rough in Africa and parts of Asia.

Well since some countries have worse poverty issues, that obviously means poverty is not an issue in the U.S.

All televisions sold today are high definition. Would you like them to have no television?

Of course it is important. People are more attentive to differential standing than to absolute standing. If you have only one pot to pee in and your neighbor has two, naturally you feel cheated and deprived.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mean_household_income

You could have been way worse of than you are today. How many with a college degree in engineering, economics, nursing or anything demanding are actually poor? Reelect someone like Bill Clinton the next time; his government balanced the budget, reduced the unemployment rate to the lowest since before the oil crisis in 1973--and made sure that home ownership reached an all time high. In a nutshell, Bill Clinton deserved that blowjob.

Too bad it's only recently everyone apart from Lewinsky have given him the recognition he deserved. :)
