Why are Americans so shortsighted

I'm not going to get into an endless argument again with you regarding gun cotrol, save to say that you are uncompromising in oposition to common sense, which is the definition of irrationality.
I'm afraid that word also doesn't mean what you think it does. I recently had a whole thread devolve into an argument over the meaning of the word 'rational', and you don't seem to have any better grasp of it than any of the confused people in that thread did. Regardless, you're lying about me, which I will not tolerate. Either put up or shut up; point to where I'm "irrational" about gun control, or withdraw the comment.

And no, I DO NOT claim anyone who opposes Obama is motivated by racism, but when it's clear that race is an issue regarding dislike of this President, I will call it out.
You bring it up every time someone criticizes Obama; clearly, what you think is "clear racism" isn't the same as what everyone else views it as.

You are seriously getting too touchy. I will not withdraw my statement that you are irrational on the matter of gun control as I am not lying. But as you are taking this so wrong, I will qualify my statement, and say that you come across as irrational to me. Fair enough?

You'd be touchy too if people repeatedly lied about you and then were too chickenshit to back up their accusations, that get's old in a hurry. The rephrase is better, because it makes it your opinion, which you're entitled to, even if it's wrong. Doesn't mean I'm not going to turn my full attention on you next time the subject comes up, as there are few terms in the English language that I hate as much as "common sense", a completely meaningless term used by the intellectually deficient/lazy when they can't or won't produce any real evidence or argumentation that should immediately disqualify it's user from serious consideration on any manner of import.

Trust me, I know how that feels, both on line, and person to person, and so I understand how you might get touchy over this.
Still friends? (Extends hand in friendship).

Only I don't really see much of a difference when it comes to their actions; only their words.

Politics- Americans tend to only remember things that happen recently. (Obama Administration) Completely forgetting about events that happened during the Bush 43rd presidency and beforehand.
Gas Prices- When gas prices (where I was at) were around a dollar in the late 90's and early 2000's people where buying Gas Guzzlers in droves. Mainly because they could "Afford it". Not realizing that gas prices could go up and in some cases go up significantly. So some Jo Blow buys a Hummer in 2003 because "he could afford it". (Gas was $1.20 in 2003) 5 years later he loses his job in the 2008 recession).
People need to plan ahead. Given our hunger for oil and the September 11th attacks. Plus another war waged in the Middle East by some Neocons in Washington, with help from a wayward English Prime Minister.

That last comment resonates somewhere with the here and now doesn't it? I don't think its only recent events they ought to remember, as you can end up eating your words when things don't go according to plan.
They'd like to remember how things were, like when every U.S soldier went to war in Iraq and 'ironed out the shirtmongers' aka arabs, von Turks etc. Now, a mexican wave has started amongst reports of a wall being built and their once migrant friends are footing the bill. Do you need a powercut or tornado to know that some lives are just built upon tradgedy, or are they part of the same thing we deem the circle of life?
I'm tired of outspoken arrogance and debates which have no meaning on these forums, if someone wants to take a pop then look at your 45th president and start to wonder where all your shareholdings and tax free investments have gone because I can honestly state that it will be down the drain when the second tower comes down due to embezzlement from the States and no one will be able to costcutt that recession then.
Down goes Wall street up goes the pound and foreign investors will just have to start loking elsewhere I guess, including olympic greats of our great nations before the empire strikes back and has to reclaim the losses.
