I'm an American who was raised as a Christian - Lutheran, but am now a Buddhist, though not a practicing Buddhist. I felt very drawn to the individuality of the faith and the fact that it isn't a judgemental faith (no offense meant to any Christians, Muslims, Jewish, etc., I understand that your faith shouldn't be judged on a few who make everyone else look bad). Of course, my father has quite a different opinion on my choice of religion...

Agnostic here, although for most intents and purposes I'm an atheist. I just like to remain sceptical.

I grew up in a pentecostal christian family.
I decided that figuring out reality myself was the only way to secure a good position in the afterlife...if we must die at all...
The labels that fit my belief most closely are gnosticism and taoism. When I say gnosticism I mean the stuff actually written in the gnostic codices rather than the pop-culture idea of gnosticism  .

I'm thinking about converting from Followers of Squiggy to Bishonen Buddha.

Though Drunk and Bitter Jesus also speaks to my cynical nature but is full of wisdom.

I'm agnostic, with an increasingly more skeptical view of Christianity.

You do not clarify whether or not you are still involved with Jehovah's Witnesses; Conway and Lottie have taken your post to say that you are. My guess is that if you are then you would have said "one of" Jehovah's Witnesses. But then, that tends to be a common oversight for even the most devout.

I'm just interested to know because I used to be one from 1987-1998, during which time I was unaware of having AS. I have considered starting a thread welcoming all Witnesses past and present to discuss openly how they feel the condition is regarded within the faith, and how it impacts on their ability to participate in various aspects of JW life.

Sadly, this isn't really practicable with current members who would be able to offer a positive perspective on the issue. It would involve communication with a former member who, although not formally disfellowshipped or disassociated, has renounced the religion and now lives in a manner not in harmony with its teachings. I'm not saying all this to try to cast the Witnesses in a bad light, in fact that's the opposite of my intentions. I'm just inviting anyone who feels they can trust a fellow Aspie to talk about this to do so, if you'd rather have a confidential PM then your secret is safe with me.

I do not have, nor have I ever had, ANYTHING TO DO WITH "APOSTATES". I still to this day feel far more good will toward my former brothers and sisters than I do towards those pathetic creatures who obsessively seek to destroy people's faith and replace it with nothing.

Anyway...I may still start that thread. Can't hurt to try. :)

I am a Celtic/Druidic inspired Pagan soul. Mother Nature all the way maaaaaannnnn.

By the way.........I think both evolution AND religious studies should be taught in schools.

People need to makie their own choices in life and the only way to do this is to be educated about things and decide what rings true for YOU. And it does NO ONE any harm to learn about the beliefs and values of others. Knowledge is power,. The more you know about people and things and the nature of the world etc the better.

I'm a Subgenius, but I'm still pink in "Bob"'s eyes, since I haven't sent in my 30 bucks. I'm also a Discordian, so it all works out, unless the X-ists actually come. Then I'm screwed.

Do you mean the purple oyster? If so, just out of curiosity, have you had many "mosquito bites" lately?

Oh, cool, tell us more! I'm shamfully weak in my knowledge of Islam. What variety do you practice? How deeply are you into it? What part of the world are you in and what's it like for Muslims there?
