So obviously the answer is "no". Demanding equality, and/or resisting tyranny per se does not go against the Bible.

The difference between Moses and Satan is that the former rebelled against a human tyrant, and the later against God himself.

So spiritual tyranny is good but physical tyranny is bad....intresting.

What does that have to do with anything?

How was Satan rebelling against tyranny?
He just wanted to replace God as the tyrant.

My point was that the Bible does glorify rebels in some spots, though not in others (Moses is actually in the Bible, and that satan fable is not BTW). So the Bible doesnt necessarily discourage rebellion per se.

I am not defending religion, but if you going to have a religion- and supply it with a deity -then how could this deity be anything other than an absolute monarch?

Are you suggesting that God is an elected official who depends upon our votes?

If you are under the impression that the Universe is a democracy then...why hasn't mortality been repealed?

Repealing death would certainly have gotten God a lot of votes a long time ago!

Lol!

He could have been rebelling against tyranny, you think he just wanted to replace god as a tyrant? Well where you there to see this for yourself? and also much of the time the victorious party writes history....what if the heavenly council of God and the Angels is lying? I mean come on there are just so many hypotheticals and possibilities.

And IDK the Pagans have different roles split up among multiple deities, rather than one being some absolute monarch omnipresent being. Of course I am speaking in general terms there are obviously lots and lots of different beliefs systems that could fall under the term Pagan. I think that kind of thing makes more sense as far as religion, than the monotheistic religions. And of course the Universe is not a democracy, it is also not a monarchy regardless of what any religion says....in fact no human economic and/or political systems can possibly define the universe.

Besides Pagans have shamans and witchcraft and cool stuff like that....lol witchcraft meaning the art of brewing herbs/plants in teas/concoctions ect, its really instresting in history the christian church banned that sort of 'devilry' and it was the sort of thing you could be put to death for witchcraft for...because its evil to make things of the earth, and not depend on the churches 'advanced' medical knowledge for your ailments. I actually did read up on a bunch of this crap a long time ago . Anyways that seems to be more effective than praying....sure I could pray for my headache to go away or I can brew some feverfew with some other plants and drink that....or I could take an over-the counter pain killer but seems kind of pointless if I have a plant that does the same thing. So I suppose I find those sorts of older pagan type beliefs to also be more practical when it comes down to it.

She wanted democracy instead of a tyranny, yes.

Would you follow or remain a slave without choices?

Try to think before answering this time please.

My bad. I meant: "he wanted to overthrow God in order to take god's thrown and rule himself. To form a junta and to be the next dictator in the banana republic. Not to achieve "democracy", nor "equality", nor "justice", nor anything like that. "Demanding equality" had nothing to do with it.Satan just wanted to depose god to get power. So your question is irrelevent. Next question."

And how do you know what his motives where?...hypothetically, not sure I buy the whole thing but just curious how you are so sure those where his motives.

I am going by what tradition says his motives were. The story goes that satan was the most beautiful angel, but he got too vain, and then sought to replace God on the throne. It doesnt say that "God refused to give Satan dental, and so satan went on strike, so God demoted him down to the mail room." There is no hint of any kind of seeking redress for wrongs done to Satan in the story.

The story has also undergone various translations, was written in old language so some meaning could be lost. Also just because something is written down doesn't make it true, and from what i understand there isn't actually an entire story about God casting Satan out for trying to over-throw him its more inferred in the Bible.

Have you ever gone to "Burning Man"? A friend of a friend used to go to that. Would like to see it -at least once (speaking of Pagan influenced things).

I was just going to post an additional thought-that happened to be along the same lines of some what you are saying.

Consider that folks THINK that the story of Satan rebelling is in the Bible. But it's not actually there.

But little bits, and pieces of scripture do hint at this thing happening. Hmmmm.....

And precisely because it isn't actually in the Bible could be....suspicious. Like the long stretches of silence in the Nixon tapes.

Could there have been...a cover up?

The very fact that bits and pieces of the story are scattered through the two testaments (references to Satan being "that snake who was cast down from Heaven back in the day") points to the core story having been there at one time, but being put on the cutting room floor at some point.

So maybe Satan was indeed motivated by being upset with God about how God was treating everybody, and was seeking justice. And the whole thing was laid out in its own chapter in the OT. But then sometime later they censored the story, and cut that book out. But they couldn't scrub away every reference to it in other chapters.

Its Watergate!

But as I said: if you're going by whats in front of you (the story according to tradition), and going by internal logic then Satan was just motivated by vanity, and greed, and like that. So its hard to prove any alternative interpretation. You would have to find that piece on the cutting room floor.
________

Multiple gods?

I dunno. Not sure how a universe would work with that.

In Hinduism they have it both ways: zillions of Gods, but lesser gods are really manifestations (avatars) of fewer greater gods, who are manifestions of still fewer greater gods, and it all traces up to one (or three, depending upon the sect) top deities. Does have a certain logic, and asthetic appeal. Kinda like a mashup of the Bible, and Greek mythology (to put it in European terms).

What I said above about censoring was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but one thing that I am seriously convinced really was censored out of the Bible is the fact that Jehovah had a wife named "Ashura"... a goddess worshipped alongside Jehovah by the early Hebrews.

That really was suppressed. And its a pity because I think that its highly unnatural for humans (both men and women) to worship a god who only shows a male face. And for the last 2000 years the Catholic church has been quietly gradually elevating, and deifying the Virgin Mary in order to reinvent Ashura for that reason.

No I have not gone to Burning Man, have heard of it though and it sounds like it would be cool to go to sometime. But yeah in a lot of I guess more pagan beliefs there is sort of an Earth mother type of diety, and then maybe even a fertility goddess...seems like Christianity serves to have kind of taken the feminine/motherly side out of it, and replace it all with one omnipresent supposedly 'male' god. You are right about the Catholics though, I mean I did not know all the exact terminology but my dad grew up catholic and still identifies as catholic...and so I know some about the different saints they pray to. Interestingly enough I sort of had that impression that the virgin mary isn't really the virgin mary...or at least when they pray to that particular saint, its not the literal virgin mary so that would make sense what you say about Ashura, have not heard much about this before though.

I know I once saw a female spirit....my dad told me it was likely the virgin mary, but I thought that was weird because by that time I was already heavily questioning everything about Christianity and any branches of it so I figured why would a specific christian deity show its self, but it would make sense if she's not really a christian diety...of course now it might just sound like i am getting into crazy talk.

The whole 'battle of heaven' thing isn't even in the bible. There's no story in the bible that states that an angel, Lucifer, the most powerful angel in heaven, lead 1/3 of the heavenly host to battle and lost thus becoming the King of Demons. One could try to pull that out of Revelations but it's a bit tortured. It fascinates me actually that the church throws that around as if it's given knowledge and that given knowledge even seems to be based on pre-existing stories regarding Canaanite gods and the like. Isaiah 14 points to the King of Tyre, more tortured abstraction needs to be imposed to say that it's a metaphor for the devil, the 'son of the morning' also seems to get used two more times in Revelations - both as a gift to the overcomers of Thyatira the gift of the morning star (I just died an utterly devout Christian in the church age of Thyatira and what does God give me? The gift of Luciferianism! Gee thanks....) and then in Revelations 22 Jesus is the 'bright and morning star' (Ahh....the other morning star, that's better!).

As far as I can tell Ha Satan shows up to test Job, seems to be inspecting God's creation and acting the curmudgeon like "God - these things are trash, look at em, they're flimsy, I think you made them too vulnerable". The Adversary constantly seems to be coming and going from God's court, he also tested Jesus in manners which seem to be more initiatory and strengthening than in ways that were meant to destroy him if indeed Jesus was to be the final nail in his coffin if it were the ol' grid-iron Pittsburgh/Cleveland rivalry or Jesus arm-wrestling Satan for the world.

There seems to be a lot to the idea of Nacash (serpent) = Mashiach (savior) = 358 and it seems to come up with this issue, add the good old brass serpent on a Tau cross that Moses made in the desert to heal his people. The forces that can destroy or pervert the body or maladapt society seem to be there as a learning experience and ultimately there to galvinize our redemption. It shows up in modern thought as Key 15: The Devil, where conscious and subconcious are chained to the block of half-knowledge by chains that they could easily lift off their heads of they tried or if they believed they could. In that sense it's the hard-knock Saturnine side of the lesson plan and the one we eventually grow out of when we figure it out.

Short story - I think it's easy for people who either haven't read the bible much or have mostly had it predigested for them by fiery nondenominational or baptist pastors to believe in a very Zeus-like YHVH who sits on a cloud thrown metting out responses to what annoys him and the possibility that there's a tyrant to be overthrown. Further study of the beliefs and their pagan sources, the numerology, the astrology, and particularly the Alexandrian flavor of thought that went into it seems to really yield something that one really has to jump up and down and manipulate to create that same image of the Ancient of Days as Zeus on a 'henpecked by Hera' kind of day.

Heaven, from what we can speculate, seems to be a system that some would call a tyranny as no one was allowed to question anything or ask for change in leadership or policies.

Was Satan and the third of angels who rejected tyranny wrong to demand equal rights, and if so, are all people who demand equal rights on earth also doing something satanic?

Is this why most religions are reluctant to give women and gays equality? Do Christians and Muslims think equality to be evil and satanic?

Do religious people think that their Gods frown on the notions of equality of all people and is that why believers deny women and gays equality?

DL

In God's Kingdom, yes, Satan was wrong. Let him go to his own Kingdom and then he can have equality if that's what he wants.

Believers do not always grant equal rights and generally view people as unequal and they are unequal to God, especially the Calvinists and Primitives who believe in predestination. They might look at others as being very unequal and there's no way to change it.

So one should not fight tyranny if one does not own where they live.

Tyrants around the word will be pleased to have slugs who thin that way living there.

If you go by what's in the Bible and that is how you see God, through the filter of all those Bible writers, and you have the right to view God through their lens but I wouldn't recommend relying solely on someone else to tell you all about God, then yes, God is a bloody tyrant who deals with the Devil and lets him nearly destroy good folk like Job, and judges people by making others rise up against them and beat them to a pulp. These are only a couple of God's Biblical tactics, there are others. God is pretty much a corrupt despot and if you don't like it, tough.

That probably would have been Lilith. Pretty cool character, sounds like my kind of girl actually, up until she started spawning demons but I suppose to be the first of anything means you had no one else's mistakes to learn from. Gotta be gentle on archetypal legends.

There are infinite ways to subdivide the human race besides gender, and thus infinite ways upon which to base descrimination besides gender. So why assume "feminism"?

Yes, it's shirk. God can have no equal. How can there be two omnipotent, ultimate, and eternal creators?

Lucifer was an angel. Angels are above humans, thus... well I don't believe in fairy tales or a "life after death." Oxymorons.

Pulling any kind of sense from the way Christians have interpreted the biblical myths will be torturous for anyone with a mind prone to thought.
