Is it Politically correct to be ashamed of being Caucasian?
Only whites have the privilege to be considered an individual by society. ..
Must be nice!
:p
Yes no one sees anyone but white people as individuals, and no white people are ever negatively blanket generalized
I do.
I said it before that "I avoid low class whites".
I have had all sorts of troubles with this group.
Their economic difficulties become your problem.
Meh and I avoid yuppies, snobs, and people who judge a persons character or worth on how much money they have, their attitude makes me feel dirty. And their apathy at addressing poverty and the vast chasm between poorest and richest becomes a big problem for all of society.
But I digress to be white and in poverty can bring plenty of judgement and negative blanket generalizations as this loving character 'LoveNotHate' has demonstrated.
you haven't bought a house yet .. when you do .. like everyone else .. you will avoid the poor areas

Everybody else hasn't bought a house, and plenty of people with houses still live in 'poor' areas....If I and room-mates got a 'house' as I certainly am never going to afford one myself it would likely still be in a somewhat poorer area. Also I am just not a snob....I don't avoid people or areas because they aren't 'wealthy'.

I take it you're not white then.
May I ask what ethnicity you are?

I dislike blanket generalizations like this because it's just not a fact like many people try to portray it as. You can say it's generally true for a certain demographic, or for certain areas, but I've found that every city and town and state have their own way of doing things. We're not the richest, but we're not the poorest either, and we don't discriminate against people just because of their economic status or skin color/racial heritage. There are morons in every group, and those are the ones I avoid. I don't care how much money you have, if you're a jerk, I won't deal with you.
I know many good people who are poor, it doesn't make them bad. Maybe what you meant to say was that you avoid areas that are well known for high crime rates? I can understand that, but that doesn't have anything to do with race. I've had all sorts of trouble from all sorts of people, and it's usually an arrogance issue, people thinking they're better than others, or more like people who feel something is owed them. Whether it's "you owe it to me to treat me well for how much more successful than you I am" or "You owe it to me to treat me well because I'm a victim and worse off than you." Can't stand those people.
I play this game with tumblr and twitter posts. If you say something and want to know how racist or discriminating it sounds, replace the people you're talking about with Jews/Germans, or any other racial combination. If it sounds like a bunch of Nazi sympathizers, you might want to recheck your stance.

That's my point. When whites are lumped together, it's usually as much about class as anything else. AND it's usually done by upper class whites (the dominant group in American society).
Think of any derogatory term for whites... white/trailer trash, redneck, cracker... they all carry connotations about being poor as well as being white.
The mentality that drives racism also drives classism.

That bit in bold is a pretty dangerous and unhelpful generalization... The truth is, humans are wired for antipathy toward the 'different other.'
Everyone discriminates. The trick is to be self-aware, be conscious of your biases and keep them in check.

I'm not wired for that.
I take the person as a person.
I would be friends with a "minority" person who I am in tuned with, over somebody of my own race whom I'm not in tune with. If both are in tune with me, I'd take both as friends.
What I have "antipathy" for is people who play the negative race card when arguing something.
I didn't take any slaves--so don't call me the oppressor! I ain't buying that!

You're fooling yourself. Take that implicit bias test and see... (take it more than once, for a real eye-opener).
PS
I NEVER claimed that most people today are actively, racist--most are not. However, most people DO have implicit, unconscious biases. That's a problem.
If you actually don't have implicit biases(something you cannot know without testing) you are VERY non-NT!

Are there any studies that look at the correlation between the implicit bias and people's behavior? I've always been skeptical of those implicit bias tests. I tried to take one once but I must have screwed up somehow because it couldn't calculate my results.
On a side note, I think most racism in this country comes from ignorance rather than hate.
When someone buys a home a realtor drives them around to neighborhoods.
They see the kind of people living in those neighborhoods.
If the people look like white trash/poor whites, then their opinion is formed by that observation.
For example, say a neighborhood is mostly "rednecks", then most may be prejudice against these "low class whites" and say, "let's keep looking".
Would you live near these people ....

Yeah, here's a good one on bias and employment.
It doesn't pay to have a "black sounding" name...
https://www.chicagobooth.edu/capideas/s ... lbias.html
The catch was that the authors manipulated the perception of race via the name of each applicant, with comparable credentials for each racial group. Each resume was randomly assigned either a very white-sounding name (Emily Walsh, Brendan Baker) or a very African-American-sounding name (Lakisha Washington, Jamal Jones).
The authors find that applicants with white-sounding names are 50 percent more likely to get called for an initial interview than applicants with African-American-sounding names. Applicants with white names need to send about 10 resumes to get one callback, whereas applicants with African-American names need to send about 15 resumes to achieve the same result.
There's certainly bias revealed here. I'd say most of it is probably implicit, but there's no real way to tell without testing the HR people.
http://kirwaninstitute.osu.edu/research ... icit-bias/
A 2012 study used identical case vignettes to examine how pediatricians’ implicit racial attitudes affect treatment recommendations for four common pediatric conditions. Results indicated that as pediatricians’ pro-White implicit biases increased, they were more likely to prescribe painkillers for vignette patients who were White as opposed to Black. This is just one example of how understanding implicit racial biases may help explain differential health care treatment, even for youths.
Other research explored the connection between criminal sentencing and Afrocentric features bias, which refers to the generally negative judgments and beliefs that many people hold regarding individuals who possess Afrocentric features such as dark skin, a wide nose, and full lips. Researchers found that when controlling for numerous factors (e.g., seriousness of the primary offense, number of prior offenses, etc.), individuals with the most prominent Afrocentric features received longer sentences than their less Afrocentrically featured counterparts.
This phenomenon was observed intraracially in both their Black and White male inmate samples.

I'm not disagreeing with the concept of implicit bias. My comment was more directed at the tests. I'm not sure how effective those tests are. That's all.
Yeah, testing this kind of stuff is hard. But the insturment I linked to is pretty interesting--associating positive/negative terms with racial images...
The more I used the test, the more biased my responces were. You'd think that the more you used the insturment, the easier it would be to manipulate, but that was not the case for me.
