How to be proud of being White without being Racist.

my only feelings about being white are related to knowing what luck i have to have been born into something. i didn't earn it.

I used to wonder why they didn't do white-pride when I was 16. Nearly all of my classmates were hispanic and frequently logged on to brown-pride sites; they typically talked about how cool it was to be hispanic.

I figured white-pride was just as good, so I logged into that site; it was 100% KKK and Neo-nazi territory, I mean promoting hate and violence towards non-whites. Brown pride was peaceful, sure it rubbed me the wrong way, but they had no negativity, much less hatred. I couldn't throw my own white-pride party after that.

I'm proud of my heritage, but being white isn't really that interesting or important to me. My ethnicity is much more interesting than my race. White people come from all sorts of backgrounds. It's not like we are all the same and have the same culture.

Neither do black or Hispanic or Asian people. They form these groups as minorities in other countries. They would not band together this way in a country where they were a majority.

Ethnic groups in Africa can differ greatly from one another, and often hate each other, same with Asian ethnicities, and Hispanic ethnicities. They only join together when they are minorities because they have more in common with each other than with the majority.

As a white person, I'm a part of the majority, so I don't need to join some group to find other white people and talk about being white. If in the U.S., whites are the minority in a few decades as predicted, there may be a reason for these groups to form to develop a community for white people.

I really do relate with the Minor Threat song, Guilty of Being White, and the original intent behind it, which was to be an anti-racism song.

I don't believe in having pride over my bloodline, but it irritates me when people (primarily my family) tells me that I am ignorant and far too sheltered because I don't believe in having white guilt over things I never partaken in, either.

I do find ethnicity as a whole to be much more interesting and important than race.

I'm mostly Italian, and Italian food and culture are much different from, say, Swedish food and culture.

I really love learning about other cultures and ethnicities, and I'd much rather join a group that makes it a habit to explore and learn about other cultures around the world. Perhaps each week would be a new culture to study, or every other week.

Then we can be proud of ourselves as humans, and get to know each other better.

there's only one race of human, and assigning value to how much melanin your ancestors has is pretty meaningless.

Be proud of being white, don't be racist.

I'm totally in agreement with Sly, on this. I can't BEGIN to tell ya how many times I've been discriminated against, because I'm white (very common in a major Metropolitan area); but, no one wants to hear it, because whites are so privileged. I'd LOVE to see some of that privilege!! It thrills me, to no end, that non-white people can not have a job, but have a nice car, nice clothes, dripping in gold, beauty parlor appointments, as often as they want, acrylic nails, that are weapons, themselves, etc.; but yet, I'm suppose to think that's okay / that they DESERVE it, because whites are, currently, so horrible to non-whites.

I have experienced discrimination for being white. It was very unpleasant. I've also been called derogatory names, and treated poorly for being white. It's not a good thing, and I don't think it should be going on.

These types of things shouldn't be tolerated for any group. It should all be looked upon as bad behavior that needs to be stopped.
