Why do rednecks side with the Republican Party?

Why does the Democratic Party side against them is a better question. A lot of US politics is simply pitting one demographic group against another and feeling like you have to vote for the lesser of two evils or else, it is true that voting for a nonviable third party candidate is pointless in the US because not voting the lesser evil is essentially the same as voting for the greater evil in this system.

Because the Democrates have become associated with people the demean them and their way of life.

For the record, I am redneck as f**k. I'm so redneck, I'm hillbilly. I don't care what our sexual or gender orientation is, as long as you're not trying to f**k me or telling me I should be more feminine. I don't care what you call God or if you believe, as long as you're not trying to tell me I'm stupid or damned or should shut up because I don't think like you. I'm a Jesus Pagan, for crying out loud. I don't care what color your skin is-- unless you want to jump my s**t about mine or tell me I should kiss your ass because of yours. And then, I still don't care what color you are-- you're an as*hole, it doesn't matter which as*hole is browner.

-Trump wants middle class tax cuts (double the standard deduction).
-Trump wants the Obamacare penalty off the backs of the middle class.
-Trump is doing something about immigration that helps middle class jobs.

Democrats wouldn't give a hoot about any of this.

I live in a small rural town, and I'd say you're very misguided. Most 'rednecks' (your term, not mine) don't live on a farm. The rural group you're referring to lives in small towns that 100 years ago or so would be called 'farm towns', but any more those towns are just small towns. The vast majority of 'farms' are actually under corporate control, the 'small farmer' you're thinking about has been virtually dead since around the time a gas powered tractor came around. Over 70% of the food in this country is produced by a 'mega-farm', i.e. a corporation, or a very large privately owned business. Most modern farms don't even till with what you probably think of as a tractor, they till with a robotic tractor (no human operation) allowing even more food to be produced with less labor. As those jobs have been mechanized fewer and fewer people have employment in those areas.

From the 1950's-1990's large swaths of small farms were bought out by these groups to create the farming system we have today. Most of the money came from private investors tied to big cities, and while selling a farm brought a lot of money initially to those that owned land, it also ruined the fabric of the city in place since the farms were a consistent source of jobs and thus income for low-skilled labor and now it's gone: replaced by a large business where the majority of the profit doesn't get recycled in the small town, rather to investors in god knows where. In essence it was a 20th century carpet-bagging operation, at least that's how most locals feel about it.

This. I changed sides because I'm sick of being pitied and put down. Also, I would rather be left alone and free to make my own life, even if it is harder and less materially comfortable than a life I might be given, than be "kept."

Farm animals and pets are "kept". And their keepers dictate the parameters and duration of their lives. I'd rather make my own way, and have nobody but God determine when I should cease.

If you want to be hyper-individualistic and self-sustaining, why not just live in the woods?

Rednecks already segregate themselves because they think if you aren't white or "Cawcasian" (Despite the fact rednecks are all Anglo-Saxon and Caucasians, although still white, are Armenian, Georgian, Iranian, Turkish, etc.), you are "wrong" so they don't need the Democrat Party to slight them; they already see them as the enemy.

I think most of the replies to this thread should be a pretty good explanation as to why 'rednecks' think the Democratic Party is against them.(they are) How many times did we hear liberals complain about white people during this election? Not just white people but rather white people without college degrees. *gasp*

The Democratic Party is also controlled by corporate masterminds. I'm getting to the root of the problem here.
America isn't truly democratic. A truly democratic country is a country where everyone can influence the government equally. In most modern "democracies", the rich can increase their level of influence via lobbying.

I will admit that corporate overlords are much scarier than poor people without collage degrees.

I don't disagree, American democracy is showing itself to be more and more of a sham with every passing day and the idea that the people actually control anything is a sad joke because even when you win the ruling class still won't respect results. What Trump did in the GOP is not possible in the Democratic party, party bosses still decide who the nominee is ultimately in the form of superdelegates so there will never ever be an outside candidate that will win the nomination of that party.

There is most definitely anti-white particularly anti-white working class sentiment among 'progressives' of the Democratic party, the intellectual elitists hold "white n*****s" in the lowest regard possible even below that of terrorists who would behead them without second thought. These elitists are convinced of their supremacy and needed role as rulers of society, they believed in the scientific racism that was in vogue at one time but now they've fully embraced cultural Marxism(never mind the actual connections to marxism or their bourgeois stupidity) The elites in the US have pitted working class whites and minorities against each other almost since the very first day we stepped on this continent. This is how they maintain control.

Low educational attainment. Many are mentally ret*d. They watch Fox News and listen to Rush Limbaugh.
