Think... feel... pretty much the same thing.

Not really, according to a psychologist I saw about 40 years ago:
A feeling is emotional...

feeling
/ˈfiːlɪŋ/Submit
noun
1.
an emotional state or reaction. https://www.google.com/search?q=feeling ... e&ie=UTF-8

Thinking is cognitive......
Quote:
thinking

noun
1.
the process of considering or reasoning about something. https://www.google.com/search?q=Thinkin ... e&ie=UTF-8

Quote:
Definition of cognitive

Being driven by emotions is something I don't value because I am a rationalist...

I am not saying it is wrong to put emotional considerations ahead of the intellect...
I'm just saying it isn't *my* thang...

To each their own...
Whatever floats your boat...
Whatever bakes your cookies...

So there is no misunderstanding, I still consider you a friend, as I do Kortie...
We just have a different perspective on life...

Not everyone distinguishes between the two, even if there is a difference.

I don't think there are any genuine alt-righters on this forum, just some people who (most likely unwittingly) use their argument tactics. There are a couple who promote a lot of misinformation in the same vein as alt-right ideology by mostly posting "journalism" from extremely questionable (or flat out propaganda) sources, but I don't think they are truly alt-right either. The problem is that by using the same tactics--and often the same talking points--they are normalizing the alt-right, whatever their intentions or true beliefs may be.

Nah, there are definitely genuine alt-righters on this forum. There are several prominent users who think that Muslims are destroying the West, black people are inherently inferior, and are happy to express support for alt-right leaders like Tommy Robinson and Marine le Pen.

You're right to identify that there's also a significant group who are more like "alt-right leaning". They adopt alt-right rhetoric and some moderate versions of their positions, they think that Jordan Peterson is a leading intellectual outside of his narrow specialism, but they aren't actually hateful individuals.

I'm not a fan of far-left figures, although it's usually difficult to draw a moral equivalency between left-wing activists and right-wing activists - while the left is certainly not free of hate, the right is much more hateful - but lots of left-wing commentators who are wrong about almost everything do a really good job of absolutely nailing the alt-right. Hbomberguy and ContraPoints, for example, are individuals who I disagree with on pretty much everything except trans rights, but they really get the dynamic of the alt-right in a way which mainstream commentators struggle with. Contra's video on Debating the Alt-Right got the particular "useful idiot" pattern we see with enablers of the alt-right down to a tee.

I just recently discovered both of their Youtube channels (Contrapoints and Hbomberguy)--the reason I like them so much is how funny they both are, and the effort they put into research as well as the scripting and production values (especially Contrapoints for the latter) of their videos. I don't always agree either, but I always laugh and usually I learn something--again, often from Contrapoints about the trans experience and perspective, because I don't know anyone personally who is trans so her videos are one of my first windows into that lived experience, but also from Harris about sexuality and coming out--his video on outsiders/HP Lovecraft was particularly enlightening in this respect.

Also, there's a new Alt-Right Playbook video, so I will post it here:

And a new Endnote video to go with it:

I've only been coming back to this thread (and some of my other threads) infrequently because I unsubscribed to them after they filled up with my fan club. I'm learning to selectively engage with people who truly want dialogue as opposed to people who just don't like me.

Can't disagree, this thread originally about rhetoric has devolved a bit into flag waving. I'd be happy to discuss political rhetoric (alt-right and otherwise) if anyone else wanted to discuss them.
