You guys are lucky. They took my wisdom teeth with local anasthetic and three weeks of tylenol.

Yeah, I had my wisdom teeth taken out under local anaesthetic too, along with my premolars. They said I could have general anesthetic if I wanted but I was worried that would make the waiting list longer.

Wait, they didn't even give you codeine after? Just Tylenol?

in amuuurica, at least with me, before the crackdown, they gave me a bottle of hydrocodone.

Got a rotating schedule of 2 Paracetamols, 4 hour wait, 1 Ibuprofen, 4 hour wait, rinse and repeat. Not the best few weeks I've had.

They're really cracking down on this no codeine thing nowadays. Some people really need it and they don't deserve to be treated like drug addicts.

canada still seems to be allowing those 222s [codeine+acetaminophen or aspirin].

I've read a lot of stuff in the papers about how codeine is all but guaranteed to turn you into an addict and how tens of millions have become addicted to opiates but I wonder how much of this is exaggeration from some moral crusaders disguised as newspaper men. This is giving Reefer Madness vibes all over again.

what it boils down to is these stuffed shirt middle class moralists believing the working class "riff raff" to have too much middle class stuff such as pain relief. they think the working stiff should just suffer.

A lot of that nobility in suffering stuff comes from the Protestants. We can blame Luther and Calvin. Although the Catholics have also said suffering is a beautiful thing.
