What are you on about ? Some people don't get cryptic posts , it has nothing to do with having a better education.

This place is getting more toxic by the day.

The answers on a quiz are easy , if you know the answer

That was not meant to be toxic. If one has never been exposed to the topic, you can’t get it, no matter how good you are at reading between the lines. I was just providing a humorous reminder as to another reason someone might not “get” something. No more.

If anything, I was making fun of us oldsters, even to the point of suggesting we were fossils.

Frequently my humor is misunderstood. I probably should stop trying.

Why did who do what?  What on earth are you talking about?
Evolution, of course.

The OP didn't say anything about evolution,he said why did he do it,with a photo shopped picture of a fish

Thats a famous fossil. Found in Greenland a few years ago named "Tiktaalic", or like that. Even if you dont read Discover Magazine regularly , and didnt know about it you could kinda figure out that that critter looks like a "missing link" between fish and land vertebrates (ie amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals, and you and me). So you could kinda figure out what Kip is asking.

Why Did the Proto-Amphibian Leave the Pond?

• Aristotle: "To actualize its potential."

• Camille Paglia: "It was drawn by the subconscious chthonian power of the feminine which men can never understand, to leave the pond and focus itself on its task.  Male proto-amphibians are not capable of doing this -- their minds do not work that way.  Feminism tries vainly to pretend there is no real difference between them, falsely following Rousseau."

• Captain James T. Kirk: "To Boldy Go Where No Proto-Amphibian Has Gone Before!"

• David Hume: "Out of custom and habit."

• Diogenes: "It was looking for an honest mate."

• Epicurus: "For fun."

• Eric Hoffer: "When proto-amphibians are free to do as they please, they usually imitate each other."

• Francis Bacon: "To retain his own dignity without intruding upon the liberty of others."

• Friedrich Nietzsche: "Because if you gaze too long at the land, the land gazes also at you."

• Gottfried Von Leibniz: "In this best possible world, the boundary between water and land was made for it to cross."

• Immanuel Kant: (1) "Because it was its duty." (2) "The proto-amphibian, being an autonomous being, chose to leave the pond of his own free will."

• Jacques Derrida: (1) "What is the difference?  The proto-amphibian was merely deferring from one environment to another.  And how do we get the idea of the proto-amphibian in the first place?  Does it exist outside of language?" (2) "Any number of contending discourses may be discovered within the act of the proto-amphibian leaving the pond, and each interpretation is equally valid as the authorial intent can never be discerned, because structuralism is DEAD, DAMMIT, DEAD!!"

• Jean-Paul Sartre: "In order to act in good faith and be true to itself, the proto-amphibian found it necessary to leave the pond."

• John Locke: "Because he was exercising his natural right to liberty."

• John Stuart Mills: "It was a utilitarian function.  She had tasks that were better performed on land."

• Ludwig Wittgenstein: "The possibility of 'evolving' was encoded into the objects 'land', 'pond', and 'proto-amphibian', and circumstances came into being which caused the actualization of this potential occurrence."

• Machiavelli: (1) "So that its subjects would view it with admiration, as a proto-amphibian which has the daring and courage to boldly leave the pond, but also with fear, for whom among them has the strength to contend with such a paragon of amphibian virtue?  In such a manner is the princely proto-amphibian's dominion maintained." (2) "The point is that the proto-amphibian left the pond.  Who cares why?  The ends of leaving the pond justify whatever motive there was."

• Plato: "For the greater good."

• Pyrrho the Skeptic: "What land?  What pond?  What proto-amphibian?"

• Rene Descartes: "It had sufficient reason to believe it was dreaming anyway."

• Socrates: (1) "I will think about it." (2) "To pick up some hemlock at the apothecary."

• Zeno The Skeptic: "Did she really leave the pond?  How can you be certain?"
