Not you brother, I was referring to others who tried.

I'm sure a lot of people haven't liked the kind of stuff I said needs to stop.

There is one thing to consider. Donald Trump, being not a veteran, seems to be operating under the assumption that all military people will blindly follow their leaders, no matter what.
This assumption is invalid.

Replacing the defense officials with people loyal to Mr. Trump will only serve to further alienate the real military members and veterans, especially the Chiefs of Staff.
Let Mr. Trump try to enact Martial Law. Then we can all watch the military stage a coup and install Mr. Biden as the lawfully-elected president instead.
Only 70 more days until Mr. Biden is sworn in anyway, so if Mr. Trump is going to do something stupid, then he had better do it soon.
I mean, something even more stupid than anything he has already done so far.

Given that the military vote was overwhelmingly for Biden, and given the military's oath to defend the Constitution, it is highly unlikely that Trump could succeed in staging a military coup to keep himself in power past January 20.
But I wouldn't put it past Trump and his appointees to try such a thing. I also wouldn't put it past Trump to call for a violent uprising by QAnon fans. Although neither of these would be likely to succeed, they could cause quite a bit of chaos -- and a period of military vulnerability for the U.S.
Pfft.
In what universe?

The real danger is elsewhere.
Won't I be laughing if the real threat to the world, and Australia in particular, happens while people are distracted by media nonsense?
BTW, how do you like your rice, cyber?
Boiled or fried?
I was throwing some support for Mona (who I thought was your friend too?) who said there are some similarities with 1935.
Trump and his supporters aren't Nazis but they are going down a dangerous path that others before them have trodden.
Not all fascists are Nazis, but pretending the two are synonyms appears to be a common way of deflecting from the fascist traits of certain political movements. Proving that a certain group of fascists aren't Nazis doesn't prove they're not fascists.

This universe, alas. On what grounds do you dismiss the above?
To me, it seems highly unlikely that Trump's ego will allow him to do anything other than fight to the bitter end, by any means necessary, no matter how destructive to the country as a whole. And surely he is being encouraged by the QAnon crowd's perception of him as their savior, as the only person who can save the world from being ruled by an evil cult of child abusers?

Not all authoritarians are fascists. Even if you believe that those who are opposed to totalitarian, reactionary nationalism are themselves authoritarian, they by definition wouldn't be fascists because fascism refers to a specific set of ideologies.

I wonder what the correct term for it is then. Because it certainly seems to exist.

If you have a case to make that they're authoritarian please lay it out, because simply opposing violent fascists marching through their communities or hijacking their democratic political system really isn't enough to make that case.

With things like this, as with predictions regarding mortgage interest rates, I see no point in worrying about it.
Nothing we can do.
I like to sit back and laugh when someone's dark fantasies run away from themselves.
So, the Presidential change over will be on the 20th of January?
I will archive this post and we can discuss who was or wasn't right on the 21st.
Done.
The file name is: "Mona Pereth's prediction that Trump will initiate a coup attempt."
