It's called facetiousness, Hadron. BTW, what do your friends call you? Baryon? Meson? (Physics students, duck and cover)

Neither of any of them. I dont reveal my real name online in public forum, but i do have nicknames.

I know. I was being facetious. I didn't want you to reveal your real name, I was just making a play on your username. You obviously are a fan of physics, particularly subatomic particles.

Not another pseudo religious argument. God (or Alex  ) help us. Now, we (or at least Alex's family know) that he exists, because of paperwork to prove it (birth cerificate, drivers' licence etc), but I don't see any physical or documental proof that Ragtime's god exists. Ragtime might say, 'ah, but the bible says he does'. So what? Tolstoy wrote War and Peace, but even that is considered a great work of fiction; and the bible is only full of legend and folklore passed down and embellished over generations. Historical events were reported on, but with a supernatural twist that would leave Rupert Murdoch envious. Newspapers report on current events, but the reports are only as good as the ability of the writers to report them; same with the bible, except when the bible was written and collated, the populace were more prone to believe in supernatural threats and miracles etc. Penn and Teller would've had a field day, back then.

Trust me, Alex is no "God" in any sense of the word. As an ex-mod for WP I have personally learned about his insanity and ego issues. I'd worship the Christian "god" before I ever I worked for Alex again. He wouldn't give us any clear guidelines and treated us like figureheads. He even sat on his hands while we tried to deal with alcoholics and crackheads. I have NO trust or belief in his abillites to lead WP.
sounds like someones butthurt to me. arent you the guy going around saying that this place isnt a democracy and stuff? and it doesnt matter what the peons think?

(Mods, let me know if my subject title has broken any rules, written or unwritten. If it's a kind of "forum blasphemy", to name WP's Almighty Creator, then that just strengths my forthcoming analogy. :) )

God is kind of like Alex. As the "god" of WrongPlanet, the world that he created, pretty much no WP member has seen him in person. Yet he talks to some of us sometimes. He's also longsuffering -- his approval is freely given, provided we accept his written terms. The moderators are prehaps analogous to church leaders (just making an analogy -- this is not a church, of course). He also works behind the scenes most of the time. We haven't all seen Alex in person, yet we believe in him, and his power. (Well, I assume most of us do! :) Do you believe in Alex? I expect a philosophical answer from gekitsu and/or AlexanderTheSolitary. :) Has WP's Creator been empirically proven to us?)

All these traits apply to God in relation to Earth and its dwellers. Did I miss any?

FYI Ragtime, there's people (who no longer post here AFAIK) who have met Alex IRL. There's also a whole list of emperical evidence that Alex exists. Unlike Jehova.

But that blender attraction wouldn't be naturally occurring or innate.

Not saying that it is.

Quote:
If sexuality is a choice, then why would people choose to be gay ,given all the crap they get?

Again, clearly seems unlikely for some.
Others, I think, choose for other reasons.
And society probably effects those. I suspect
that the more gay love becomes culturally
acceptable, the more people will claim to
be (and by my definition - that's enough)
gay.

Quell your attractions? Hmm...I'm not sure. To reproduce is the reason we exist, it would be extremely difficult if not impossible.

Why do you say that's are reason for existence?
If 'tis nothing more, you'd think we'd all just kill
ourselves.

calandale: what has this to do with the topic at hand, BTW? Or is it somehow getting around to the point that maybe even the bible is out of step with gays in todays society? Just not sure on the relevance.

Damned if I care. Things wander a bit

No problem, cal; it's just that I might use too much lateral thinking sometimes.

Hey, if you two don't say anything, and I don't, then FSM still has deity status. Which is why Jehovah has gained such popularity; he may not actually exist, but as long as people BELIEVE he does.... (Cue Laurel and Hardy theme)
