Elon Musk promotes free speech...then did THIS! Shocking.
Because teaching CRT means making people feel guilty for being born the wrong skin color.
No it doesn't.
You can’t solve racism with more racism.
Maybe you should look up some facts about Critical Race Theory.
https://www.naacpldf.org/critical-race-theory-faq/
CRT also says that it’s impossible for non-white people to be racist. I can’t recall the exact rationalization right now. I think maybe it’s because all minorities are oppressed by white men, therefore it’s expected minorities would hate white men. There’s no reason for white men to hate minorities, so it’s only racist when white men do it.
And yes, “white men”—the choice of words was deliberate.
I don't think that this is one of the tenets.
So you hate Christians. Got it.
You must have a persecution complex. Anyone who mentions Critical Race Theory is automatically racist against White men. Anyone who quotes Jesus automatically hates Christians.
During the first few centuries of Christianity, Christians actually welcomed excruciating martyrdoms.
There are probably some Christians who are okay with Critical Race Theory. Christianity exists on a spectrum.
Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you...
And...
He that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

I would argue that modern right-wing nutjobbery is FAR more dangerous than academic Critical Race Theory.
https://news.yahoo.com/fear-paranoia-gr ... _test=0_00
‘Fear and paranoia.’ Grandson says Andrew Lester bought into conspiracies, disinformation
A grandson of the man charged with shooting a Black teen in Kansas City’s Northland last week said he was “appalled” and “disgusted” at his grandfather’s actions and is thankful Ralph Yarl is recovering.
“I was horrified. I thought it was terrible,” Klint Ludwig said of his immediate reaction to hearing about the shooting of the 16-year-old. “It was inexcusable. It was wrong.
“I stand with Ralph, and really want his family to achieve justice for what happened to them. Their child or grandchild or nephew’s life was fundamentally changed forever, over a mistake and someone being scared and fearful.”
Andrew D. Lester, 84, shot Yarl twice — including once in the head — when Yarl accidentally went to the wrong house on Thursday night while trying to pick up his younger brothers. Lester, a white man who police say shot Yarl after the teen rang Lester’s doorbell, was charged Monday with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. He surrendered to authorities on Tuesday, was released on $200,000 bond and pleaded not guilty Wednesday during his first court appearance....
...Ludwig said he and his grandfather, who goes by the first name Dan, used to be very close.
“But in the last five or six years or so, I feel like we’ve lost touch,” he said. “I’ve gotten older and gained my own political views, and he’s become staunchly right-wing, further down the right-wing rabbit hole as far as doing the election-denying conspiracy stuff and COVID conspiracies and disinformation, fully buying into the Fox News, OAN kind of line. I feel like it’s really further radicalized him in a lot of ways.”
Ludwig said his grandfather had been immersed in “a 24-hour news cycle of fear and paranoia.”
“And then the NRA pushing the ‘stand your ground’ stuff and that you have to defend your home,” he said. “When I heard what happened, I was appalled and shocked that it transpired, but I didn’t disbelieve that it was true. The second I heard it, I was like, ‘Yeah, I could see him doing that.’”
Does he consider his grandfather a racist?
“I believe that there have been some positions that he’s held that have been bigoted or sort of disparaging,” Ludwig said. “But it’s stock Fox News, conservative American stuff. It’s ‘anybody who gets an abortion is a murderer.’ And ‘fatherless Black families are the reason why crime exists in this country.’ It’s stuff everybody’s heard at the Thanksgiving table every year.”
Ludwig said his grandfather’s paranoia had accelerated in the past couple of years...

It isn't so much the original Critical Race theories so much as how it has influenced or been interpreted as what is loosely described as "wokeness". Specifically, the worldview that posits that white people no matter what their individual circumstances have "white privilege" and thus are racist. Racism is not defined so much as viewing other races as inferior but is based on power dynamics. If you disagree with that you have "white fragility". Anything merit-based is just an excuse for the enabling of racism. In viewing historical figures the idea that they were "products of their time" needs to be dismissed, they need to be judged by current standards or more accurately through "woke" standards.
This IMHO a racist worldview is hidden behind you can't argue with it unless you are racist expressions such as "Black Lives Matter", "anti racism", and "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion". Many powerful companies subscribe to (or don't but believe that is where the profits lie) these. Their often mandatory training DEI is based on these. The "white fragility" book I linked author is an in-demand and influential author.
As far as schools the head of the nation's most powerful teachers union believes in Critical Race Theory. It strains credulity that with their most powerful union believes in it, and many are graduates of colleges where this is taught is at least some of this not passed on.
Bottom line - The claim that CRT is not being taught in primary schools is true but misleading and thus is an easy fact to use to dismiss and sort of gaslight opponents.
Who is more dangerous the right or the left? I would hazard a guess the right in the short and medium term and the left in the long term. The right is literally more lethal and on the march. The anti-woke backlash is undoing a lot of what the woke people accomplished. As I have repeatedly been linking to the movement today driven by and more and more being defined, by Orbanists/Trumpists/white supremacy/Q Anon, etc. They are going against racial and generational demographics. "Woke ideology" still has powerful support in Academia, many influential corporations, and the entertainment industry. The right is going to do so much damage eventually an anti-anti-woke backlash will happen and if people think "woke" is too extreme just wait.

What credible Critical Race Theorist uses the term "woke" and states that all White people are racist?
Being White has conferred many privileges to White people, in the United States and elsewhere. For example, the Bay View Association of the United Methodist Church had this resolution on the books until 1959:
"... no person shall be accepted as a member of this association or be allowed
to rent or lease property or a room, for longer than a period of one day, unless
such person is of the white race and a Christian who must provide acceptable
and good recommendations. This resolution does not apply to servants within
a household or to employes" (sic.)
You might say "Well, that was the old days. It doesn't apply any more." But, White people still have the advantage, in being more likely than non-Whites to inherit a cottage there, and to build inter-generational wealth.
It was only recently that Jews, Catholics and atheists were allowed in.

We're arguing, aren't we?
The nation’s second-largest teachers union is placing itself at the center of the national debate around critical race theory this week — taking aim at GOP opposition to it while hosting one of its most prominent advocates, who referred to former President Donald Trump as racist.
At day two of the American Federation of Teachers’ TEACH 2021 conference Wednesday, author and prominent critical race theory advocate Ibram X. Kendi and AFT president Randi Weingarten defended the academic theory while going on offense against CRT opponents.
Weingarten, who spoke first, denied that critical race theory was being taught to American students while vowing to stick up for any educator’s right to teach it.
“Let’s be clear: Critical race theory is not taught in elementary schools or high schools. It’s a method of examination taught in law school and college that helps analyze whether systemic racism exists — and, in particular, whether it has an effect on law and public policy,” she told the virtual audience.
“But culture warriors are labeling any discussion of race, racism or discrimination as CRT to try to make it toxic.”
Weingarten offered a direct dig at the GOP, saying, “There are legislators, mostly from the Republican Party, who are currently bullying teachers and trying to stop us from teaching kids honest history.”
“Look, maybe they are just trying to raise the temperature on race relations because of the next election,” she continued. “But whatever it is, it’s not good right now.”...
...“Apparently it’s a controversial idea to say you’re indoctrinating children when you claim that racism doesn’t exist in a society of widespread racial disparities and inequities,” the Boston University humanities professor argued.
“If you’re a child that’s 10 years old and you see that certain racial groups have more and certain racial groups have less, you’re going to be asking why is that the case,” he added. “And to me, it is the prudent thing to do for teachers to explain that some people had less because of racial disparities, not because they are less.”
Bottom line - The claim that CRT is not being taught in primary schools is true...
Teachers may believe what they wish. Perhaps having some understanding of Critical Race Theory will help them with their lesson plans. There is a popular song with a stanza that goes something like this:
They need to teach in the schools
That the White Race ain’t never done wrong
Slavery was good for the Negro
He didn’t need welfare at all
I'm strident against “Cancel Culture”
And for banning most books and songs
So hail me, hail me, hail me, I'm a conservative
Is this more in line with what the anti-CRT mob wants taught in the schools?

We can argue on WP, we don’t cancel most opinions, that is why WP is a good place.
‘White Privilege’ approaches a real problem in the wrong way. The problem is prejudice and discrimination. Not being discriminated against is being treated fairly, it is not some unearned and unfair privilege. If you are in the majority no matter what the majority is you are more likely to be treated fairly or given an unfair advantage, if you are in minority you are more likely to be treated unfairly. This is not automatic. Just by it’s name it assumes all whites are privileged. Because it assumes a negative (unfair advantage, racism) about all white people it is a racist concept.
Nothing Weingarten said contradicts what I said in my opening sentence or in my Bottom line sentence. It is notable that the TEACH conference invited Kendi. We rightly worry about the authoritarian legislation emanated from the right. Here is Kendi in his own words.
Pass an Anti-Racist Constitutional Amendment
The Department of Anti-Racism as defined by Kendi sounds pretty authoritarian to me. That is the person The American Federation of teachers of chose to invite. These ideas having agency in an influential organization such as that is what I am talking about. How would some of this not trickle down to what is taught in schools? That it is not the original CRT taught in law schools is irrelevant.
If you are trying to convince me of the nefarious hypocrisy of the right you are preaching to the choir.
Conservative And Right Wing Cancel Culture
Ron DeSantis’s Illiberal Education Crusade
There is a legitimate argument and it is certainly human temptation to see the right as such a threat that until they are dealt with we need to ignore and dismiss stuff coming from “our” side. I have a problem with that. That is a nice song you posted there but conservatism as defined recently as 15 years ago would be appalled by such government intrusions into personal lives and local affairs. What happened is that the left was seen as such a threat that the “crazies” on there side needed to be dismissed and ignored. That worked out so well conservatism is defined similar to what that song says despite most anti woke legislation as bad as they are not banning teaching of slavery and mandating teaching the white race has done no wrong
All Progressives including some of the original CRT theorists are appalled by wokeism. Similar process as the other they are getting hijacked just as who not are.

It doesn't though. The privilege is being spared certain forms of discrimination.
Ignoring that definition to reframe it as something worse is a good example of that fragility.

Exactly right.
In my musical wanderings, I’ve taken time to independently study postmodernism for the sake of understand its role in the arts. I think it’s good to open your mind and imagination. But I also prefer to focus on the world that exists apart from the mind.
CRT makes use of a lot of postmodern philosophy. Ideas such as white privilege, fragility, and even the word racism itself are deconstructed to favor a perpetual racial underclass. It’s based entirely on a white oppressor meta-narrative which I do not believe has any real-world basis.
I don’t deny that power structures exist, but I think that the power structures that DO exist serve two opposing purposes: on the one hand, it appeases a majority of people to include minorities as well as corporate interests—these form the backbone of successful election campaigns; and on the other hand and perhaps most consistently it serves the interest of the individual.
Individual achievement doesn’t know bigotry or persecution. It knows perseverance. Even during the slave era there were a few known black individuals who were achievers. There were successful women long before women had the right to vote. And I think the American institution still fosters achievement by allowing individuals to seize every opportunity.
The victim mentality stuck in the meta-narrative looks at opportunities as something that must be given, not something that must be sought. And because achievers routinely take opportunities, a zero-sum activity from the victim perspective, they are responsible for passing on opportunities to non-achievers.
The thing is…people are who they are. The only real privilege out there is being aware of the possibilities. In my experience, black culture where I lived condemned black achievers for trying to be white, as though personal enrichment is a betrayal of black values. So they often know what’s possible and they’re discouraged on pain of being ostracized by their own, or they are overwhelmed by the intense effort it takes to rise above themselves. And that’s not a race thing, that’s everyone. But if you are raised with your own people telling you black people can’t do this or that, you’ll likely see white achievement as the product of white privilege and black people need not apply.
The idea that the mind can be poisoned by culture runs against the grain of the prevailing meta-narrative of white racial power structures, though.
I think of CRT as a passing fad, TBH. CT has been around longer than CRT and is only even an issue in postmodern discourse. I think history is worth learning from, and power structures should always be examined to see how they affect individuals.
In some Southern states, at the time that the Civil War broke out, slaves were in the majority. And, White people were scared to death of any possible slave revolt. They knew what had happened in Haiti.
In the Southern states, most people did not own slaves.
I would argue that poor Whites were also a victim of the system. While they might be higher than slaves (socially speaking), they were also forced into militias, to keep the slaves in check, and to capture runaway slaves.
A popular song that may date from the era:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCg2TbKLr_w
They also couldn't compete for jobs themselves against slave labor very well.
A big part of the strategy was to keep poor Whites against Blacks. Otherwise, if they really understood what was going on, then they might have joined forces with the slaves to overthrow the plantation owners. Instead of going off to die in a civil war designed to keep slavery going.
The strategy is still working. Why are Southern states against Obamacare? Because they don't want to see Black folks getting medical care. They'd rather see rural hospitals close down completely.
But, poor Whites, whose minds are controlled by Faux News, don't realize that they would benefit from Obamacare, too. Not just the Black residents.

Being spared from institutional racism is being treated fairly. The ‘White Privilege’ concept is the reframing of the original concept of privilege as being granted privileges because you know somebody or can buy them or earned them.

That history is the history and must be taught.
Resistance to Obamacare was not just a southern thing but a Republican thing in general. They were able to convince people to opposite it because idea that a government run system would be worse then the private run system then in effect. That is because most people have to deal with government bureaucracies.
That the average person is saying to themselves even though they are not mentioning race I get the racist coded message being sent to me is giving people way to much credit. I thought I was cynical but all people that resisted Obamacare want no health care for black people is a big stretch.
Speaking of history that is an accurate description of resistance to Obamacare at this point.

Wealthy Republicans who happen to live in rural areas, and who have the money to pay for their own medical care, probably don't realize that just keeping hospitals open, even at government expense, would benefit them personally if they ever got sick and couldn't make it to a wealthier part of the state for treatment.

On the other hand, wealthy Republicans who live in rural areas can easily ride their helicopter or private jet, in case of a medical emergency, to a wealthy part of the state that still has hospitals.
It is the numnuts who are brainwashed by Fox Noise who don't know what they're doing to themselves.
