Why is woke a dirty word now?
Pardon?
For eaxample: they might not vote for certain candidates because of their hateful policies, but they won't hesitate to vote for that person regardless. Their support enables those policies.
Your premise seems to be that your nemeses ONLY support injustice.
You seem to have difficulty with the concept of:
Having a different opinion than you is NOT inherently bad.
Legalization has weeded out the cheap stuff, at least from what I've seen.
But hey, let's ignore the social costs of prohibition because you don't like smelling it occasionally (even though that probably occurs even with it being illegal).
1.). In the area I live in, legalization has not weeded out the cheap (ie stinky skunk) weed. I have to smell it almost everywhere I go. I would love to pull out some of my stinky chemicals (buteric acid comes to mind) from the lab and return the favor. Unfortunately I do not want to clean up the vomit that would happen.
2.). It is much more than just the offensive odors. Crossing the street becomes very risky due to the amount of drivers high on weed. They have very poor coordination skills and have almost ran me over a few times as I walk to work. I have witnessed more than a few people lighting up while driving. Now throw in a cell phone and it becomes a much higher risk situation. Remember, not everyone is respectful of others when they smoke weed. It seems like those are few and far between where I live.
Another complaint is that it is nearly impossible to teach chemistry courses to students who are constantly high on THC. They usually drop out after a while due to low tests scores. Kinda hard to remember tough chemical data when your head is full of pot smoke. I look at that as job security, as there will be less upcoming chemists to replace my generation. They are slowly eliminating themselves from the chemistry job market, at least on the higher degree end of the scale.
As for the social costs, drug users do not care to follow laws prohibiting their habit. I see no issue that if they break the law, they go to jail when caught. You might have a problem with that, but I do not.
Doesn't all weed stink? When I was in Amsterdam the whole inner city reeked of weed. Perfect excuse for me to shamelessly wander through the streets high as a kite teleporting from one end of the city to the other with no idea how I got there.
I liked the city but don't think I would like living in such a place as a resident.

It all smells, but stink is subjective.

Of course they're all high. You've claimed it so it must be true.

Not all differing opinions are bad, but opinions that would lead to others being denied justice should be condemned as injust. Deal with it.

That seems like a bit of a presumption.
Actually it is not a presumption, as it was stated for that purpose by the students in question. At one of the campus town halls, students from that organization said that they wanted a safe area to use drugs, both legal and illegal, without any oversight. (Remember that universities risk losing their federal funding if they support any drug usage, including research, that is not federally allowed.) This demand was stated from the student organizers directly to the faculty senate when asked to clarify what the safe zones were for. The faculty senate voted against their safe zones due to that. If they would have asked for them for a reasonable reason, they likely would have gotten what they wanted.
Oh right, there's still backwards areas where cannabis use is illegal.
You make it sound like they want to run a chopshop and a brothel.
Such places could easily drift into being used as such.
Best way to think of them is as a stateless ship. Jumping on one every day from the US and sailing into international waters and coming back a few hours later will rightly draw a lot of attention especially if done so to dodge US legislation.
It puts the people onboard the ship in danger and get the neighbours angry.
Slippery-slope fallacy.

I dont mind being accused of being "woke", and yet sometimes I get frustrated with 'wokeness'. The lexical parts especially, but sometimes policy too.
For example heard a young lady on a radio call-in to NPR the other day talking about her mom. She said "Mom is for the right progressive things but she makes me cringe -the way she talks." What made her "cringe" is that her mom calls a certain subset of Americans "Blacks".
WTF?
Her mom doesnt use the N-word. She calls them "Blacks". Thats what theyre called.
Yes...you COULD call them "African Americans", but African American is just a stupid disposable fad term destined for the trash heap soon. Among the problems with it is...Elon Musk is "African American", as is Charlize Theron, and Dave Matthews. If Omar Sharif were alive today and made permanent residence in Hollywood he would also be an "African American" because Egypt (strictly speaking) is part of the African Continent. Anyone born in Africa who migrated to America is an "African American" and thats the ONLY kind of people who are African American. Garden variety American Blacks descended from antebellum slaves have been in this country even longer than most White people and their ancestors have been here. So they are among the most unhyphenated Americans there are!
Of course they're all high. You've claimed it so it must be true.
When you can smell the weed smell from more than fifty feet away without their windows down and you cannot see them due to the smoke inside their vehicle (clear glass windows, non-tint), it is a pretty safe assumption that they are high while traveling. Even if the driver is not directly smoking it, he/she is getting a contact high off of the concentration of smoke at that point. Weaving at a very slow speed while traveling thru a red light without stopping is another indication that they are likely high on something. It does not take a chemist degree to put the evidence together on the above two cases. I flagged down the police on the above cases and guess what? The drivers were high while driving when tracked down and tested. Both got arrested, jailed, fined and lost their driving privileges for a period of time. I was happy to see the police catch them before they hurt someone.
It's not a dirty word. The word "woke" has been hijacked by the right wing as a snarl word against those who want social justice. It's also being used by the far right as a dog whistle as a cover for people who are actually racist, sexist, homophobic etc. This youtube video explains it well, I think:
As in most things, it isn't that simple.
Political hyperpartisanship will produce a lot of BS on both sides.
Extremists cause problems and provide a wedge for discreditation.
Every absurdity that an extremist presents provides further ridicule.
Pardon?

Deal with what?
I have no trouble believing there is, at times, injustice.

I do not understand how the right wing can use it as an insult. Like how is it a bad thing lmao? I am at lost at how is it supposed to be insulting.
The primary idea of the extremes of either side of the political spectrum is “might makes right.” They are right, everybody else is wrong, and will always be wrong, even if the opposite side can prove beyond a reasonable doubt they are right.
(As an aside, I grew up in that kind of environment. Even with a Master’s degree (in library science, no less), even after making may case, I was still ostracized (and severely) for proving my point for being correct.
