Many people are not going to watch the video and would engage with the title only.
At which point they can simply be asked to view the video to gain context?
It's really not difficult.

I’m going to watch it soon, CF.

I trust your opinion that it likely explains things better than the title would otherwise suggest.

Perhaps a better title would be "Neil DeGrasse Tyson mocks mathematical and scientific ignorance".
Well if we're aiming for a thread title to pre-analyze the attached video's content for fear of upsetting someone, it should really be "Neil DeGrasse Tyson mocks mathematical and scientific ignorance of Americans as a result of their education system".
But that takes any remaining fragment of fun out of it...

Neil deGrasse Tyson is many things, but someone who bashes America? Well hardly.

I have no problem with him and have read some of his work. I just have a problem with the thread title on WP.

Please watch the videos I posted as well, or I'll cry.

I can understand the frustration about "America bashing". Yes, my view is that the title is, at face value, an attack on a group. Some of the discussion on the first page doesn't seem to be responding to the funny video, which doesn't actually seem to be especially related to the title of the video.
Exactly. It’s addressing the title, leading to American bashing. A different title would have different results.

"at face value".

In fact? - no, it's not bashing Americans.

"Americans’ IQ scores are lower in some areas, higher
in one; ‘It doesn’t mean their mental ability is lower;’"

From Another Study That Isn't Using a "Click-Bait Title" For A Target Audience.

And Of Course, It Stands to 'Reason' That Neil deGrasse Tyson's Target Audience
Includes "STEM Enthusiasts" More Than Others Who Specialize In Other Areas now

of Human Intelligence That Far Exceed What Is Only Measured By Standard IQ too....

i Enjoy Listening to Neil De Tyson's YouTube Videos Yet i Scored Near the Top of my
Class in All Subjects, Graduating From High School Number 11 Out of 381 Without Even

Hardly Cracking A Book Open as i Had a Very Challenging Condition of ADHD Then Yet

Able to Remember Enough of A Lecture
To Get through all the Rote Memory Required
For Multiple Choice Tests That Were a Major Way

to Measure Human Intelligence in the Years i went to School;

University and 3 Degrees Not Much Different Yet my Emotional
And Physical Intelligences Surely Suffered Enough Where i Wasn't

Comfortable, Literally in my Own Skin, Getting From Point A to Point B;

Yeah, the Old Stereotype of the Straight A Students Who Can't Find Their Way

Out of a Frigging Paper Bag; Indeed,

There is More to Life Than High

Scores in a Standard IQ Test;

And Of Course STEM Specific

Intelligence as Applied IN Life As Well;

As Far As Standard IQ Goes There is, Currently By Study,

No Conclusive Evidence that Humans, Overall, in America

Are Getting Stupid. IQ Scores Are Lower in Some Areas
And Higher In One of Rotating 3-D Objects; Hehe, Could
Be Related to Playing Video Games Behind a Screen Yet i Only Guess...

We Live in An Era of Information Overload; It's Hard to Be Aware of All that is

Going on; And All the Different Kinds of Intelligences That are required to Understand

All the Different Potentials Humanity Has and Still Has to Earn; i listened to an Interview

of Neil deGrasse Tyson Discussing A Simulation of Our Reality By Beings Higher than Us

With Katy Perry; Hehe,

She Admitted That Wasn't

Her area of Expertise in Intelligence;

And Neil DeGrasse Tyson admitted that

He was "Light Years" Away From the Kind of

Emotional Intelligence Within, Katy Perry Uses in Her Art;

As Far As Ignorance Goes, Just Look At Last Night's Presidential Mugshot...

That's Not All Americans Though; Met One American, Met Just One American...

Yet There are More

'Minions' And 'Despicable

Leaders' than One And We

May Surely Measure That By Those

Who Support Indicted Leaders And Whoever

May Come to Be Convicted And Serve Years in 'Prison'...

True, There is More Than One Way of 'Prison' Yet That Includes the 'Land' of Metaphors too...

Smiles, Neil Or Whoever Came Up With the Title is Appealing to the 'Politics' of What May Gain

The Attention of

The Target Audience

For Their 'Pleasure;' Perhaps,

Where They May Feel 'Bigger' Than Someone else...

Not Much Different Really Than the 'Trump Plan' and the such...

"Americans Are Falling Behind In Areas of STEM Education," Doesn't

Exactly

Ire Up
Any Emotions

to Press A Button, Hehe...

Yet Hey, It's A Real Area of Concern
And Perhaps Worth the 'Hyperbole'...

And Even Breaking Some Rules of Common Courtesies too...

Sure, Like Eventually Replacing Human Beings With Robots too;

Life isn't 'Black And White,' In Reality At Least; Lots of Nuances and Grey Areas, Indeed...

i Do Find it A Bit Ironic That Neil Didn't Seem to Fact Check the Hyperbolic Title And Let That One Stay...

Takes A Few
of His 'Human
Points' away in
my View Yet i Wouldn't

Find it More Impressive that
A Politician Deceives With Correct 'STEM' Facts
Than Tells the Truth With A 'Misplaced Metaphor'...

Humans View the World Differently, With A Wide Range
of Potential Different Intelligences For Real; And it is the

Diversity of All of Our Potentials in Fruition That Makes Our Reality Work as Well as it does...

I'm very disheartened by this thread and many others in this area of the board. So much demonizing and hatred, considered justified by so many. I came to this board to get away from being pigeonholed and ostracized.

It honestly feels like the Two Minutes Hate from Orwell's 1984.

This is very upsetting, perhaps because I've allowed myself to express real vulnerability and openness here. I guess I should have known better.
