there are differences but the men in charge were all complete psycho paths
I doubt Marx wanted all that when he wrote The Communist Manifesto

If you think about it, flags have been carried on since the tribal era, in other forms of course. Talismans and feathers were Eastern and Tribal traditions respectively, and the Flags were of the late Romans and Roman Catholic Church. The feudal system had flags for a while. Then nations broke off of the hegemony and conquested with their own flags. So, in review:

Flags

Tribes-->Provinces-->Nations-->Continental Unions (UN)

what the american national anthem should be:

My idiot mind melts in a dizzying swirl
The sickening symptom of a dying world
Where human greed grows from national pride
No hope for the future, no choice to decide
The wealthy bribing pawns for their patriot games and
Religion serves this purpose much in the same way
That we fight over trivial s**t
and
A hatred is born with people dying from it

Don't think, just take a look and see
our genocidal tendencies
will get you in the end
you'll be killing your best friend
you think that you're immune
but you will change your tune
it's buried deep inside
your thirst for genocide

It's "us" against "them" or it's "them" against "us"
When life turns to survival we all get on the bus
And on the topic of trust when all media lies
The fervor reaches fever-pitch through fiery eyes
It's out of control and we're losing our grip
And it all turns into battle on a sinking ship
The ones that sit back; they're enjoying it all
(Cuz) The over-population means humanities fall

Don't think, just take a look and see
our genocidal tendencies
will get you in the end
you'll be mercing your best friend
you think that you're immune
but you will change your tune
it's buried deep inside
your thirst for genocide

Commodification with no means for subsistence
Grab what you can becomes the world's existence
Robbing and raping are the murderous crews
We watch from the side-lines on the 10 o'clock news
Alone in your den and you think to yourself:
"They're sickening animals and nothing else"
But the day will come and your time is soon
You'll be on the frontlines, not your suburban cocoon

Don't think, just take a look and see
our genocidal tendencies
will get you in the end
you'll be mercing your best friend
you think that you're immune
but you will change your tune
it's buried deep inside
your thirst for genocide

It's buried deep inside
It's buried deep inside

Allegiance is a pretty wide word, you can mean whatever you want - the country's ideals, the country's future where you can aide or better it; doesn't mean you pledge to swallow propaganda, neocon fascism, or whatever it is you think you see out there that would make you want to do otherwise.

My children know everything you've mentioned, including the Apostles' Creed. Yes, my Autistic son can recite all of these. Plus, "America The Beautiful." He does a boggled job at the National Anthem and "God Bless America," but he's getting there.

I see nothing wrong with teaching these things to kids because I grew up with them.

I pledge my allegiance,
To the Flag,
Of the United States of America,
Not to the Leaders,
For which it stands,
One Nation,
In despute,
Divisable,
With Liberty,
and justice for some

haha its funny cause my name is Bob, and I have 2 cousins named Doug, and every time we meet we say hows it goin ehh, or get lost you Hoser, and we do love our beer and back bacon, but thats not what Canada is, its ethnically diverse and friendlier then alot of countries, and its not all just white guys named Doug, I am French/Metis/German/Danish, with some Scottish and Portuguese. Kilroy I think the Canadian flag is way nicer then the old USSR flag, its the flag of a failed ideology, and it represents the repression of the people, under an Iron Boot, the USSR is dead and gone, and good riddance. so take off ehh

Image
I prefer the new Russian flag way better then that bloody rag they had before

Kilroy it would probably be a s**thole where ever you go, if you think its bad here, then you should try a different country, but you won't have much luck finding a better place. Its what you make of where you live, and it sounds like you never got out of your parents basement, or talked to people who had to live in the USSR, the place was and still is big mess, thanks to communism.
I have to add Hockey, and Hockey Night in Canada Rules! The CBC may suck, but only when there is no hockey on it, and have you even seen any good Canadian movies, I have, its not all "yawn" Star Trek.
You should get out and see the country, and actually try to enjoy this place, its not as bad as you make it out to be.

Just typing those words brings tears of patriotism to my eyes.

Do you Pledge allegiance to your country's flag? What are the words of the Pledge of Allegiance to the flags of other countries?

i am not particularly religious, but I do consider myself to be a patriotic Canadian, I love my country and for what it stands for, I was very ashamed over a booing incident at an NHL playoff game a few years back, but when I saw the class of the people of Boston, I thought wow.

What is this attitude on my nationality, I don't put down anyones country of origin, we have our own identity, my arms are not going up waving about! Ya we get a little up tight about our identity, we are very proud of it, we have lost a lot of our identity, since we are next door the the USA, I have the feeling that people think all Canadians live in Toronto.
I am about 40- 45% native blood, from both parents. my mom was 1/2 native or metis, and my dad was about 1/8th
