Christian Orthodoxy is hateful? Which demoninations are you referring to?
The New Testament isn't hateful, and neither are people who truly follow it.

Ya, I'd be more inclined to be friends which liberal Muslims than with the hardcore practioners of Islam.
Being friends with someone who disagrees with you philisophically is a lot easier than being friends with a guy
who believes his god wants him to eventually kill you if you don't convert!

You're probably referring to that word 'hate.' In Jewish context, the word "hate" simply means to "love less," meaning that you value God above everything else.

I find it interesting that you pick specifically Luke's telling of Jesus's statement, and not Matthew's or Mark's.

"Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me" (Matt 10:37).

"'I tell you the truth,' Jesus replied, 'no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life'" (Mark 10:29-30).

So, clearly Jesus is referring to us placing our ultimate loyalty with God, above all else.

And also, Jesus told a man that he must honor his parents in order to inherit eternal life:
"As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. 'Good teacher,' he asked, 'what must I do to inherit eternal life?' 'Why do you call me good?' Jesus answered. 'No one is good—except God alone. You know the commandments: Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.'" (Mark 10:17-19)

I find it interesting that anyone could believe that the Bible is the innerant word of God when there are so many differences between the various Gospels. Consider the crucifixion - according to one Gospel account, Jesus understood his fate and accepted it peacefully; according to another Gospel account, he cried out in frustration to God, asking him why God did this to him. Which is it? It can't be both.

Is it really a believe in non-existence or rather a lack of belief due to insufficient evidence? Many of the great atheists claim that they are so because they do not see the hypothesis of a deity as necessary or as supported by evidence.

"Scientology" wasn't up there, so I chose "Other".

Nothing against the faith itself, apart from the fact that it was coined by a sci-fi writer... I just find the idea of an alien overlord named Xenu flying spare people to Earth in DC-8 like aircraft and dropping them around volcanoes and H-bombing them, therefore creating "body thetans" which stick to us and cause us pain, a bit far-fetched.

But hey, if that's their cup of tea, good for them. The world is what you make it.

No, it's not, hun. Atheist only share ONE BELIEF in common: there is no god. We don't have a sacred text, nor the same values. There is no Church of Atheism.

And I'd like to see some proof that a god cannot be disproven =_=
