Didn't sperm shot into my mom's vagina create me? Not a god?

There are children on this site. I don't think naughty words like sp**m and vag**a are appropriate. Maybe on an adult s** message board, but not here.

Could someone please explain to me what is "naughty" about perfectly legitimate scientific/biological terms like sperm and vagina? Aren't we, by being squeamish about such things, teaching children that there is something wrong with that particular part of their bodies and that particular bodily function?

Frankly, I am far more offended by the almost-constant innuendo I find even in family-friendly movies. It seems that as long as you use euphemisms and wink-wink hints, nobody is offended, but let someone speak in a frank, direct way about how humans (and other lifeforms) reproduce and all of a sudden, My God! That's terrible!

Maybe it's because I work in research but I had to unlearn my learned prudishness about such words, and it wasn't easy to do, believe me. I believe that by not teaching our children the proper and correct words for parts of their bodies, we may be actually hindering them when it comes to communicating health issues, etc. Why is it that nose and mouth are acceptable words but vagina and penis are not? Is it because what is done with them? What do you say to the child who dares ask such questions?

Coming from someone who has "Free Thinker" as his custom rank, but then, you just might be joking, right?

Considering this is a politics, philosophy and religion site, I doubt very much that there are going to be many children reading these posts. Most children I know know far more about sex (or think they do) than they ever do about politics, religion or philosophy, which to me is a greater shame. And if they are reading these posts chances are they are pretty mature anyway. I'm not a parent, but there are other sites I'd be far more worried about my children seeing than this one.

I would be more concerned about the discussions about morality and the value of it than the mention of the real name of the genitals for children to read, although the guy might be kidding, kinda hard to believe someone being serious with a post like that.
