I meant as opposed to waiting 5 years for marriage, when she doesn't believe in premarital sex--like my second girlfriend.

Come to think of it, I think she may have been an extreme Christian.

I think sex is a critical part of a relationship. I don't think that should wait until marriage. I mean, I have no issue with people who do - that's super if it's for you. However, I don't want any law forcing it...and I swear in the state of Ohio you're gonna get ID'd to buy a freakin cucumber pretty soon.

See, this doesn't offend me. The Christian faith doesn't offend me either, and I have nothing against it at all. My only issue with with extreme people trying to push Christian doctrine into law. Free will is the basis of Christianity, and yet some wish to wipe that out.

You haven't offended me as I respect people who base their beliefs on solid research and thought.

To answer the topic, I believe religion should remain separated from the state.

I'm agnostic, leaning pretty heavy towards atheist. I don't really have much of a problem with Christianity itself... I recognize that most of the problems come from the people using their faith as a excuse to bully others into their way of thinking. (My God is better than your God BS)
I've always viewed faith as a personal thing, and it should be kept as such. I don't care what you believe, just don't push it onto others.
There's a good majority of Christians out there(I've met them) who would want nothing more that a Christian dictatorship in this country. That line of thinking is wrong to me on so many levels. (and these are the kind of people who gave us Bush BTW... we all know where that led us)
I don't believe Christians have a monopoly on morals either. Basic morals like don't murder, don't steal, don't lie, etc, are all universally accepted by pretty much all cultures in the world.

This is what I don't like about extremism, I'm a christian but I don't believe in forcing religion down people's throats. I disagree with a lot of things christians do. And I accept what other people believe, it's their business not mine. I think I may be more into the spirit of it than most christians.

I don't see how anyone of intelligence can make claims about supernatural things that are unprovable. And I'm convinced that all humans are driven by their emotions, no matter how intelligent they are. You probably believe what you believe because you want to, not because you have stumbled upon some proof that has eluded generations of metaphysicians. (And you can't be too intelligent if you didn't notice that "My faith is based on scientific evidence and faith" is a circular argument.)

That's probably because you haven't studied the history of Christianity. The Western world didn't get christianized because people wanted to believe in absurd, unreal nonsense, but because Christian zealots burned pagan temples and libraries and killed anyone who opposed them. If you want to know what the world would look like if Al-Kaida were to win, just look at Europe in the Middle Ages. It's been done before. :x

I don't like to apply the label atheist or religious on myself b/c what do I know? Then again, the word politically correct comes into mind.

I think I see some good in religions and some bad. Frankly I'm in a dilemma, I try to look at myself as spiritual, yet ppl also put a label on that as well. Agnostic? I don't know, I'm trying not to have extremist views on anything, I'm beginning to see some good points and wisdom in each religion, yet I also see something defintely wrong when it contributes to any hate of a belief different from or lifestyles that is deemed even worse than bad. For some reason though, I think society has a lot to do with that.

So I don't feel it healthy to look at faith or non faith in an extremist view of mind, but that's just my thought. I'm still learning in life..
