it has to do with DNA.. the evolutionsit is using the similar chromosomes from humans to apes as an example.. and the creationist is saying that's irrelevant considering humans share the same number of chromosomes as tobacco

I am sure Jesus existed or lived but he was just a man. Mortal like you and me. A man with a vision (his vision, 'I'm the son of the man created all things'> duh) and preaching about it. Fine with me and if someone feels the need to follow, tjah, go ahead.

You are not stupid but your post projects a great amount of serious stupidity.

It's not the number only but the similarity of the genes and the viral and DNA markers that we share with the apes. In other term, It isn't the number of chromosomes, it's how they line up.

it's spelled chromosomes, science-man.

ok, I misspoke and I think i meant how many chromosones they have in common..

we would share the genes that would be common to all eukaryotes, as that would be our last common ancestor with tobacco... given that tobacco is a plant... we have less in common with tobacco than say with other mammals and animals but more so than with bacteria.

so we share "common genes" relatively in this fashion: humans>mammals>other animals (like birds/reptiles/amphibians)>plants>bacteria ect.

and that by no means means that species have the exact chromosomal set up.... ie- what genes are found on each chromosome. there is some conservation of what genes are found where, but there are lots of recombinant events that occur within any one lineage of genomes... so even if a species shares genes with another species, they (the genes) can be found on different chromosomes (especially if the gene is found towards the end of an arm on the chromosome). the fish lineage, for example, is really complicated as they have gone through several genome duplications and thus have many chromosomal rearrangements.

i would add also, that it is perfectly plausible for different organisms to have the same number of chromosomes yet be different species. tobacco actually has more chromosomes than humans do but the number of genes we have in common on those chromosomes would still be less than the number of genes we have in common with any another species of mammals (that could even have a diff/same number of chromosomes than we do).

it's about a misconception of genomes and complexity. more chromosomes does not = more complex... though it's ambigous to argue humans or tobacco are more complex than each other... we're different. im sure you could argue either way.
