If people were better behaved and needed less supervision, minarchy might work. But as it is, people are essentially overgrown ADD children in need of a nanny.

Yeah, the major issue is that ADD children watching over ADD children is hardly a nanny, and perhaps an even greater level of child abuse.

The blind leading the blind... it will be a problem so long as we have people ruling over people. We need to invest more in AI research so the machines can get on with their revolution already. Then we'll have competent leadership. :P

The AI idea isn't the worst, then again, I don't get my science from sci fi movies.

It is one of those unpleasant traits.. us humans are known for..

It is easy to see the faults in others.. (I do it myself)

But much more difficult to see them.. in ourselves.

Wisdom.. then.. is being awake to this human weakness.. that we all have..

In general.. it seems to me.. people who can only mock other’s faults.. while remaining blind towards their own.. are out of touch with reality.

Self examination.. would be a much more realistic approach to take..

That is what the great sages taught.. anyway.

Why not make this your default quote.. ? :-)

It will shut the mouths of the lions.. (see the book of Daniel)

------

“Even when walking in the company of two other men, I am bound to be able to learn from them.

The good points of the one I copy; the bad points I see in the other.. I correct in myself.” - Confucius

-

Here’s something from Buddhism.. about cherishing others..

Which is also a Christian belief.

----

Finding fault

'...Unfortunately we have become very skilled in recognizing the faults of others, and we devote a great deal of mental energy to listing them, analyzing them, and even meditating on them! With this critical attitude, if we disagree with our partner or colleagues about something, instead of trying to understand their point of view we repeatedly think of many reasons why we are right and they are wrong. By focusing exclusively on their faults and limitations we become angry and resentful, and rather than cherishing them we develop the wish to harm or discredit them. In this way small disagreements can easily turn into conflicts that simmer for months...'

I am by no means blind to my own faults.

Then I would hope you're man enough to apologize for your insults.

That may be. I'm not an expert on Christianity. Not yet, anyway.

Nice excuse. with that logic I should steal your money and buy myself a new preamp... :chin:

Either way, you're very weak minded to sink to that level just to feel more part of the team.. ive been an outcast my whole life, and if it helps you to sleep at night to insult me then fire away.

I'm not going to make fun of you for being an outcast, but I should point out that it would do you a great service to stop believing in BS that makes you look psychotic

FWIW I'm not weak-minded and I don't think I'm part of the team. But I wouldn't want to cause anyone this level of agitation, so thank you for calling me out on this. I'll remember not to insult you like that in the future, ShawnWilliams. FWIW I'm sorry I said those mean things about you.

But thats all part of reality.. anyone who believes in things out of the ordinary gets flamed.. If I have to take a bullet for believing in aliens, or the illuminati, and major coverups, then whatever, I guess thats the curse of it all.. there are giant conspiracies at work.

here's an alien story you can't debunk.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5PQleH2Hz8

I dont consider myself crazy for believing this stuff.. I want to know your actual thoughts on this one video.. just give me one honest opinion, a small paragraph.

There were enough people involved in this video that would have to make them crazy too. How can 62 children see something that doesn't exist? Is it possible that I'm right? Is it possible that you only think im psychotic because you're blind?

This is how it should be. WP members calling each other out when we get carried away with personal attacks or invective or bullsh*t. And when we fail collectively toward that end, Alex and the mods step in it to break it up and act as disciplinarians if necessary.

What, if anything, can we achieve with anarchy that we honestly couldn't achieve with democracy? The main problem with any democracy, I think, is that people don't step up and claim responsibility.

There's that apathy, that It's Not My Problem, that Can't Somebody Else Do It? mentality.
