She'll probably make a mess of that too.

It seems to be a madhouse in the HOC. And they are supposed to be debating whether to have a General Election or not, because we all signed that petition.

And now our new Prime Minister (in all but name) says there are more "difficult decisions" to come. I love these euphemisms for cutting our living standards.

The Hansard (official UK government) report of the debate over having an Early General Election:

Sometimes I wonder if the Tories are trying to lose - nothing can stop the global depression that's coming after all and whoever is in power will be blamed for it. But then I remember that the Tories aren't smart enough.

Thanks. So they came to no conclusion whatsoever?

So, to recap:

We have a Health Secretary who says antibiotics can be handed out by whoever feels like it. This is actually a threat to the human race because if bacterial diseases become immune to antibiotics, they will spread over the planet and kill us. e.g. Bubonic Plague is a bacteria.

We have a Home Secretary who wants to arrest 'people who are likely to protest'. Anyone is likely to protest, so anyone could get arrested at any time. It is directly from Minority Report, the film.

We have a Prime Minister who no longer holds any power and sits silently in the House of Commons.

We have a Chancellor, who despite being rejected twice when in the running to be Prime Minister, has overruled the current PM, torn up her financial budget and is basically in charge of Britain now.

Any others to add?

It would be funny if it wasn't true.

See what happens in pmq's today. I wonder if she'll even show up.

Honestly, I'm disturbed. I've always been very resistant to the idea that there are shadowy, powerful forces acting behind the scenes. I've always seen self-interest, incompetence, coincidence and accident where some see conspiracy. Human beings being human beings, I don't generally believe in puppet masters.

But I look at what's happened in the past few days in the UK and it makes no sense whatsoever.

Jeremy Hunt was not well-liked in the Conservative Party. He had a very small base of support - hence his performance in recent leadership elections. So how is he suddenly in charge? Who made that decision? Not Liz Truss, clearly.

The Conservative party was in an impossible situation. Stick with Liz Truss and watch the situation get worse, or change leaders and face embarrassment, loud calls for a General Election and likely electoral wipeout.

What they've done is try to have their cake and eat it. They've changed leaders but they can't be accused of having changed leaders. It was a silent coup.

Someone, somewhere, is powerful enough to parachute in a new leader with the authority to override not only the PM, but all those factions in the Conservative party who wouldn't have voted for Jeremy Hunt under any circumstances - which is most of them. And no one has made a sound.

It's deeply, deeply troubling.

Yes you're right. That is exactly what they have done.

Imo they have told her she mustn't resign because it's not in the interests of the party and they have put someone else in power by another means. It's absolutely incredible that they are allowed to get away with this.

I mean how many more tory oms are we going to see before we get a chance to vote the bastards out.

Yes...it's sad that no one can contradict me and prove I've got that wrong...

My European friends are saying 'What's going on over there? That is insane' when I tell them.

You're right, my friend.

I suspect the puppet masters are the ERG and all those people who donate to the Tory party. The people who have made money from Brexit. The Russians- we know Boris Johnson had/has KGB friends.

It is indeed deeply troubling...
