Obamacare
We don't do things on our own. We produce and exchange with other people. The more we produce, the more buying power we have.
What's your justification for forcing people to pay for non-production?
Well it's an issue of reality..
We no longer live in a society where people actually produce tangible things they can see..for the most part...
What this means is society must change to accommodate this difference for it to survive..
Full stop...
There is no other option..
And with a society that is long since past the agricultural age..and the industrial age..
The product now..is mostly exchange of information..even when it comes to checking oneself out of the grocery store..
The machines are doing the production and the human beings..are benefitting from an easier way of life..
The good news is really..there is enough money to go around..as long as the government does not continue to give free handouts..to those who are making substantial good livings..by the way of welfare tax credits..that are simply proven more over than anything else..to simply pad their bank accounts..without actually adding any thing of real substance to the economy..
The nations infrastructure is failing overall..The way to prosperity..is through government supported work programs to make the country stronger...
There is already welfare for all in the way of tax credits..
I cannot remember the last time I paid federal income tax..but I pour thousands of dollars back into private industry every week...
I can easily pay more taxes if I needed to simply because I live within my means and keep a car or a house two decades or more...
But quite frankly the government has been giving me free unfunded tax credits..for over a decade now..and I have invested them wisely..and now private industry finally gets the benefit of my wise investments...
The problem is simple...the taxes are way too low..
The politicians have simply mortgaged the long term stability and welfare of all it's citizens..to make intelligent middle class folks like me who spend their lives serving others in government service..rich in effect for their entire life..
That's the best way things work..secure jobs..clearly defined social roles..and basically a frigging way to make a living for the majority of the population..not just the successful businesses..as the majority of people are simply not genetically cut out to run a business..
Most people in effect..are support players..not captains of industry..
So with a nomadic society..now with little definition for social roles..OR potential for job security or even an idea what most young people can even do in life to for subsistence to survive..there simply has to be a large social safety net for the country to survive..and not fall into eventual third world status..
Your business will be LIKELY BE completely worthless if that happens..
If you do expanded research to view this picture from a big world view..you will likely plainly see that what you wish..if coming true..could be your ultimate nightmare..as if you lose your business..you could be begging in the streets..just like the homeless folks...that you may not think deserve help from government assistance...for basic subsistence..
It does not appear you are willing to see this..and that of course is okay..
There is really nothing you can do in REALITY
..against people who are going to ensure this country survives..by supporting the fellow citizens..with government support as reasonably required for basic subsistence and a peaceful society..not one of social anarchy..that WILL HAPPEN..IF A SUBSTANTIAL NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE NO WAY FOR SUBSISTENCE..
HUMANS WILL KILL TO EAT..THAT IS A PROVEN EXPERIENCE TIME AND TIME AGAIN..IN ALL COUNTRIES..THAT LIVE IN A 3RD WORLD ENVIRONMENT..
..AND IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE IN THEIR PATH..no matter how advanced you may think your ways of life are..THEY WILL NOT STOP THE POTENTIAL SPEEDING BULLET..from arriving to it's destination....
Seriously our country overall is a country of spoiled brats..who have never encountered the social anarchy of governments and countries that do not take care of their citizenry..it's not like an orchestrated war..when this happens..IT IS COMPLETE CHAOS.. that is all..
Trust me ..and I think you should Know by now from being a combat veteran..you don't want to see this happen on our soil..friend..
And yes..if you get the wish ..that WILL BE YOUR EXPERIENCE..MOST LIKELY.. AND EVERYONE ESLE'S IN THE STATES PARTICIPATING IN THIS DISCUSSION...

Yes and yes.
If it won't be the case with a private company, that means that it's being subsidized. So, while you pay with a postage stamp, someone else has to pick up the difference in the actual cost of transporting that letter.
Why is it impossible to pay for things individually? We do it with everything else. What can't be paid for individually?
The number of bills would increase. The amount of those bills would decrease (competition).
Privatization would hurt the needy. I won't argue that. It takes away the redistribution of wealth that currently supports them through the threat of violence against those who are more affluent. I believe that in the long haul, it would help people more than it would hurt them, but it would definitely hurt in the short term. Personally, I would likely contribute substantially more to charity than I do now (because I do support voluntary redistribution of wealth to those who really need it).
Notions of the free market making everything in the long term better for everyone is a pie-in-the sky fantasy. The short term hurt on the needy would eventually become the long term, with no help in sight. The market isn't an all knowing god that's looking out for the good of all. Nor does it just naturally do good things for people. It has never done anything but to make life for the have-nots miserable, till the people say enough. Privatization has never done anything but to keep services beyond the reach of not only the needy, but also the many in general.

Yes. I don't agree with her worldview.
I don't agree with the assumption that government is the cause of a peaceful, stable society.
From what I can tell, the rule of law overwhelmingly makes thriving more difficult for my business.
It's not free. I pay for it. Against my will, I might add. Not only that, but I have to pay an unequal share to educate people that don't work for me as well.
Same answer as above. I pay an unequal share to provide these services to other people. I also don't agree with the assumption that government can provide these services better than private organizations.
If I pay $100 and receive $80 of services and someone else pays $0 and receives $20 of services, I'm operating at a net loss. I am not receiving a benefit. I am being forced to pay for services at below market value.
God has been a part of social contract for longer than that. I don't consider that as a credible argument to believe in god. Likewise, I don't consider 2500 years of social contract belief to be a credible argument to believe in a socialist principle.
No I don't. Any potential debt I owe to the aggregate of people in this country is far outweighed by the amount of my labor that goes into paying into the system. I am operating at a net loss.
I don't resent the poor. I resent people who feel that other people owe them something.
I pay far more than my fair share in taxes. Do you?
It's a terrible investment, with a negative ROI.
Okay....
I apologise for taking you seriously. It won't happen again.

the man is a pathological liar
That is simply an issue of semantics..
Plans that are worth keeping,, not plans that will not support individuals fully enough with health problems not to land them on a door stop of a hospital still needing free care...
It cannot and will not work like that in the long run...
Now getting people to change their habits to join a health care plan no matter how cheap if they are healthy is a real challenge..
I would forecast that the toothless penalties today for not joining in ..Will increase greatly in the coming years..
The stick is just not big enough now..but political realities are real..Sometimes bending expectations are required to get things done..
Where ever the bureaucracy of government is in play...
A promise by a politician is only good as the full understanding of the semantics at play..
Words in the English language usually have at least one entirely different message..if 'played' as such...
Politicians must play this game to compete..IT IS THE WAY THE GAME IS PLAYED..
THERE IS NO CHANGING THAT FACT OF POLITICS REGARDLESS OF WHO IS AT THE TOP....

It's not semantics, it is lies. Obama straight up lied when he said that 'if you like your doctor and your health insurance, you can keep them period.' Not you can keep your plan if it fits these specific criteria, ' you can keep your plan, period.' It's about as clear as cut as there is. He lied and he knew he was lying at the time to, they forced this law on the American people against their will and lied to do it.

Are you really surprised that a politician lied to you? It seems to be standard practice regardless of political affiliation.

Sorry guy..people who need insurance are really happy about this...
Sorry you are not happy for them..but I am..as my sister is one of those folks who can retire now from her job thanks to the real hero that Obama..is for those individuals really in need...
If you don't need it..good for you..but some people are definitely in dire need for it...
There are no statements by politicians ever guaranteed to go the way they are initially put...
That's not @all unusual..so it's kind of silly in my estimation to put Obama above any other politician when it comes to that political reality that no politician is immune to..REality changes..and promises cannot always be met anyway...
So really what I am saying here is that is not at all a big deal..as it is par for the course for most politicians and a given understanding about politics even among people in the general population...

Now you are the liar. It's not like Republicans supported the ACA at all anyway. Realizing some plans would become illegal wouldn't have changed their minds at all. But keep harping on this talking point, it's what substitutes for thinking among the right.
Despite the arbitrary line of 1%/99%, the numbers associated with them are accurate. The stats could have just as easily been calculated for the 5%/95% or 50%/50%.
The numbers aren't relevant to my point. There is not a political group that wants to screw the majority in favor of the minority. The statement that "righties" want the elite to escape taxation and the rest to pay up is nothing but a demonization strategy.
It's actually true, it's as aspect of the class struggle which has defined human society since feudalism. Income inequality is an indicator of social stability. And you can't have a consumer society without a middle class. There is an informal cabal of rich elites who are currently conspiring to eliminate restrictions on money in politics. They write the legislation and give it to their own handpicked zealots in congress for them to pass. They want to be able to steal and exploit the people of the world for their own greedy ends.
Now you are the liar. It's not like Republicans supported the ACA at all anyway. Realizing some plans would become illegal wouldn't have changed their minds at all. But keep harping on this talking point, it's what substitutes for thinking among the right.
Nonsense. The law passed narrowly as it did, the Democrats had trouble passing it thru their own caucus. I very much doubt those swing votes would of been convinced without the lies. Most of the dumbies that voted for the law didn't even know what was in it, you had Nancy Pelosi saying we had to pass the bill to find out whats in it. The entire thing is built on lies, the American people didn't want it with the lies.
But now, could it be breaking couples up?
CBS 2’s Don Champion spoke to one Brooklyn couple on Wednesday who said they may be forced to get a divorce to get health insurance.
Nona Willis Aronowitz and Aaron Cassara’s love affair began at a party in 2008.
“We kissed on a bean bag chair,” Aronowitz said.
A year later, it grew into a marriage at City Hall in Manhattan.
“It was really sudden,” Aronowitz said. “It was basically because he needed health insurance, and I had a job that would give that to him.”
But four years later, there is now irony in the fact the couple could soon divorce for the same reason.
“After Obamacare has rolled out, we realized that we would save thousands of dollars if we got divorced,” Aronowitz said.
The issue for Aronowitz and Cassara is that together as family of only two, they make more than the $62,000 level to qualify for subsidies under the Affordable Care Act. But if they lived together unmarried, they would qualify for the subsidies and could literally save hundreds of dollars a month on their health care.
A single person can qualify for subsidies if they make less than $46,000 a year.
“It’s really complicated,” Aronowitz said. “Go on the website, you’ll see what I mean.”

As a matter of fact, most Americans who opposed the ACA's passage had thought it hadn't gone far enough. And now, it's gaining popularity as more and more Americans know they can rest easily now knowing they will have health coverage.

a century is a long-enough wait, that is how long the righties have "kicked this can down the road."
