If criticizing the Israeli state isn't an attack on the Jewish people, how does defending the Israeli state amount to a defence of the Jewish people? It doesn't.
Unrelated wrongs don't make a right after all.
I don't believe I ever claimed this either, if it came across that way then you must remember I'm autistic and bipolar to boot. I don't always use my words the way I actually mean to, especially when stressed out or feeling attacked.
Yes you're right about unrelated wrongs don't make the situation right. But I myself have witnessed PLENTY of Jew Hatred online and in real life ever since this war happened. No matter what I may misinterpret about the situation you will never convince me that anti-semitism is just a thing of the evil past and that Jews have no more reason to distrust the world for the s**t that they are still subjectes to to this very day.
Maybe nexttime I find comments online spreading anti-semitic sentiments over Israel's actions I can try to remember to take screenshots of them and post them on WP just so people will quit treating me like I'm just a crazy imbecile imagining this in my fractures mind?
I don't believe you're crazy for believing antisemitism exists. It does, that's undeniable.
You're just not doing anything about antisemitism by arguing with antizionists (especially ones who oppose antisemitism) on WP.
Further, since we both have ASD and bipolar, please extend the same grace to me as you ask me to extend to you.
Maybe because many Jews were murdered and/or displaced just because of their religion? Basically by mocking their religious views you are being calloused over why they were being sent to concentration camps, which frankly I see as victim blaming. And like I already said, the "God's Chosen People" thing is deeply misunderstood by most non-Jews and seems to be the basis for every antisemite's reason for hating them.
I think you're mistaken about the historic motives for anti-Jewish hatred. They were blamed for the Roman execution of Christ, as well as for refusing to accept Christ as the Messiah. Neither of these are even relevant to the thinking of atheists like myself, since the very premise isn't one that a non-believer can accept. Christians might be jealous and that might explain why they sometimes insist God's chosen are 'the elect' or the 'saved believers' etc, but they're equally goofy and narcissistic when they do so.
Edit 1: There were other, secular causes, but I tend to be somewhat sympathetic towards the Jews for how they became established in European banking. This makes the secular motives for violence essentially a matter of the nobility using the Jews as a scapegoat community. That makes this another position where the antisemites framing is personally disagreeable. (end of edit)
As for the belief that a group can appoint themselves as the master race, people who engage in that sort of narcissism open themselves up to being mocked for that sort of narcissism.
They can declare themselves extra-special snowflakes all they like, it doesn't mean anyone else has to take that declaration seriously.
Further, you really ought to watch Corey Gil-Shuster's street interviews with Israelis before you try to argue they don't view themselves as superior to the non-chosen. Being ignorant of that group narcissism doesn't mean it doesn't exist, even if you'd really like to pretend it doesn't.
Not being adequately informed about what you're hoping to offer an informed opinion about can't possibly strengthen your argument.
Again, the "I'm only anti-Zionist!" argument doesnt work with me. Maybe if you ever one day belong to a nation that is hated the world over and fighting every day just for its right to just exist you will understand.
States don't have any inherent right to exist period.
I really don't care what "works on you", if you refuse to understand the difference between antizionism and antisemitism, that's on you. If you insist on being a useful idiot for those who conflate the two so that they can engage in ethnic cleansing but also be the victims of backlash against that ethnic cleansing, that's also on you.
If you insist on bad faith responses to my criticisms of Israel, expect to have that bad faith pointed out.
Edit 2: I make fun of a lot of religious goofiness, including Jewish and Muslim beliefs, including Christian beliefs and including all sorts of other religions/cult-like groups/belief systems. Calling out some specific interpretation that some Jews have isn't an attack on the entire group, only the ones who hold that belief. If someone is of the belief that other peoples have lesser souls, that's a belief that deserves to be mocked openly.

To be fair, Islam has its own « God’s Chosen people » and it is pretty ingrained in muslim cultures.
(Surah Ali 'Imran, 3:110) is:"You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah."
And oh yes, I am hating the West’s Left too, by a lot. What a bunch of hypocrites they are.
I can write pages on why is that, but to make it brief: Lebanon’s foreign policy had been dominated by Iran via Hezbollah’s state within the state situation for years; these *traitors* masquerading as « resistance » dragged us to unnecessary proxy wars in 2006 , the long Syrian Civil war and recently twice in 2023 and 2026; totally destroyed Lebanon’s relationship with the Gulf countries since decades, our historically most crucial economical partners (not anymore thanks to them) - not to mention all the assassinations, the Nitrate Ammonium store in the port they were clearly for them and their Assad during 2005 up to 2015. Also the fact all these tunnels and missile stores they made under civilian areas, Nasrallah was literally hiding right under an entire civilian neighborhood.
Just to be clear, Hezbollah don’t identify themselves as Lebanese, they totally sold their allegiance to Iran.
We ended up having to do the Framework agreement with Israel as a lost side , akin to Japan after WW2; Hezbollah left us no choice; they are still barking in their media but even their supporters are starting to realize there’s no other choice.
And yes, Western Leftist figured had been constantly lecturing us that Hezbollah are the heroes while our government are « traitors » - without knowing that around 80% of Lebanese are in favor of disarming Hezbollah’s *proven useless* arms for good.
And guess what? They do nothing to solve the core problem, if they want to fight Israel then at least come join the fight, but they won’t.
