It's nearly an everyday thing at this point, and that's not even an exaggeration.

:?:
I'm guessing it was "back of a fag packet" ?

In the UK "fag" mostly means "a cigarette". The other meaning is rarely used there.
It was also used in some posh schools like Eton, whereby younger pupils (fags) were required to act as personal servants (fagging) to the eldest boys.

It's also a word for a bundle of sticks and with an -ot added on (unfortunately, just like the longer version of the slur in the US) refers to the instrument, the bassoon in some languages.

Hard to believe that F-word that rhymes with "maggot" was actually used in The Hobbit, referring to the aforementioned smoking pipes certain characters, like Bilbo and Gandalf, use.

Not kidding, there's a song sung in one of the chapters that feature that word!

In the UK fa***ts are meatballs
They're on the shelves to buy
It's not classed as an offensive word here and let's hope it stays that way

I live in a country where school uniform seems to be prioritised over education

If Trump dies in office, which seems inevitable considering he's almost 80 years old and the stress of the presidency is speeding up his dementia, what would J.D. Vance's presidency look like?

He's in a better state of mind than Trump. I don't expect him to roll back everything Trump has done to initiate fascism in The States, that's just not gonna happen. Will he double down and willingly make everything worse? Or will he take a step back and be average compared to Trump?

See? The word was automatically edited out.

If WrongPlanet had any American moderators, then some of you would be getting severe rebukes!

:shameonyou:

By the way, there is a dessert in the Philippines

which is a bad word in Spanish.

The "P" word is an extremely offensive and racial slur in the UK and in other countries but it's not even censored on here

TW Racial slur

It is a word that offends me by the way but I just wanted to test the system

Sorry for any offence caused

So I'm thinking the censor thingy is a tad bais

Wut?
The site runs on software that was set up by an American who added offensive words known to him to the auto-censor and over the years, many more have been added.
So as an American, how likely do you think it is that Alex was as aware as a Brit that "P-word" is offensive? Or had even heard of the word at all?

It's not telepathic and it doesn't somehow magically pick up offensive words as they're used - the censor needs to be told which word to censor.
So instead of accusations of (I assume) bias, anyone is free to suggest words they find offensive are added to the auto-censor.
Consequently that word is now censored.

That it wasn't censored until today indicates that the word wasn't used here in decades or if it was, no-one complained.

BTW - when testing a word to see if it's censored there's no need to actually post it and risk causing offence.
Creating a post containing the word and then previewing it without posting will show if it's censored or not.

In Tagalog it translates to "white" or "whiteness".
Which is more offensive?

Clearly not, as it's still fully visible. :chin:

But I don't think it serves much purpose censoring as many bad words as possible and in any language in the off-chance one might eventually get used.
If it crops up here in something more significant than an example of a bad word, then it should be considered.

Also in Latin it means "I think so", which seems pretty harmless.
