New Prime Minister for the UK?
I just read a felieton that I'd find interesting... unfortunately, it's in Polish, so I can offer only Google Translation of it:
https://wydarzenia-interia-pl.translate ... r_pto=wapp
I looked at the translation and it seems not that bad. Hopefully can be understood.
The author writes from Polish point of view, so I wonder how Brits relate or not to his opinions - especially that promotion of Brexit got a lot of funding from Russian oligarchs, as weakened EU was always among their goals.

Thanks Magz, that is interesting.
The incorrect bits I can see are:
the English, instead of raging at their own stupidity, became furious with those who lied to them: Boris Johnson, the Conservative Party, its politicians.
^Unfortunately lots of the public still love Boris Johnson, it was the Conservative Party who turned against him and threw him out.
the pro-Putin communist Jeremy Corbyn, whose only "positive" idea was hatred of America.
^this is totally wrong. Corbyn is not pro Putin or a communist. He is a socialist. The Conservative Boris Johnson and many of the Conservative government ministers are the ones friendly with Russian billionaires, some of whom are in the British House of Lords e.g. Evgeny Lebedev. Their Russian friends are in positions of influence in Britain.
The rest of it seems to make sense.

I'm not over-impressed by this article. In particular, the stuff about many of our largest corporations being in favour of Brexit. In my recollection, that was not the case.
And about the Labour Party, don't know exactly where Corbyn stood on this matter, but it's interesting that a guy like George Galloway, who is very much 'Old Labour' (though no longer a party member) seems to be very much pro-Putin and was (still is?) a contributor to the 'Russia Today' TV channel. I think quite a few left-wing trade union leaders are very much pro-Russia in the Ukrainian war - that certainly applies to Mick Lynch and his Rail union.

OMG I am sure you are correct! He will! OMFG.
He is an imperfect soupspoon, a demented cartoon, a tempestuous typhoon, a homicidal raccoon, a duplicitous loon, a contorted balloon...
There is NOTHING I love more than word games!
Some good oons there. But… the Boris photo is a bit disappointing… looks like he’s just been caught and bowled for a duck against Pakistan at Old Trafford.

I've even had comments from Americans who are shocked at the sheer corruption in the British government! And that's saying something.
I knew nothing about Truss but as my wife and I were driving to the beach in early September, we heard her give a speech (acknowledging her designation as new PM I suppose) and instantly agreed that the speech gave absolutely no reason for anyone to think she gave a flying f**k about the public nor had any plan to improve anybody's lot. TBH had she simply said that Britain is in the toilet and she can't promise much but will do whatever she can with whatever help she can find, I would have had a positive impression, although such a speech would echo Gerald Ford's "the state of the Union is not good" speech but even he managed more than 44 days.
Although she's not bad looking. Under appropriate circumstances I would have sex with her unlike the case with Johnson or Trump (but then I'm not gay so I wouldn't be interested in Trudeau or Doug Ford although I can imagine members of all genders who might consider doing Ford).

Show me a photo of Boris Johnson that isn't disappointing, he is generally a disappointment

She comes across as robotic, and almost certainly funded by dark money from shady billionaires.
Presumably the paragraph about the sex is a joke? It seems way out of left field.

I can't, but this one is food for thought:

When I saw it, I thought "Really? They elected that?" Then I realised the power the image has on the gullible mind - it's saying he's not a snob and that he loves the British public. And they fell for it. We get the government THEY deserve. Personally I don't know which is worse - his cynical use of publicity stunts or his utter lack of dignity.

Of course it's a joke. Sorry I didn't signal it properly.

Johnson's policy on this issue and its continuation by Truss is popular here - though I suspect the British motives are largely their own imperial sentiments. Anyway, from our point of view they do the right thing here. Going from outright imperialism to earning popularity among allies is a good way to go.
I understand that what is central for us is marginal for British people - so, with current lack of stability of British government, the question weather support for Ukraine continues is a source of anxiety here.

Then again she has got it going on.

Ah right. I don't think I've met you before so I don't know what you're like.

It's all right. Out of left field is how I roll.

Yes...Boris Johnson loved to show that he was supporting Ukraine. When he had a crisis of popularity or a scandal in Britain, he rushed to Ukraine to pose with Zelensky. However, the British government's policy for helping Ukraine is not good. They made a big fuss about helping Ukrainian refugees but it was all for show. They made it so difficult for them to find genuine families and help in our country. Lots of forms and security to go through etc. that held them up for months. A lot of refugees have gone home/elsewhere.
However, please believe me: BORIS JOHNSON IS USING UKRAINE TO BOOST HIS OWN POPULARITY. Please don't fall for his lies. He will support Ukraine as long as it serves him. But when it doesn't...he'll drop Ukraine like a hot potato. I'm sorry to have to tell you this.
The British people want to continue to support Ukraine, it's just been difficult to make our government listen to us.
I didn't know Corbyn was in line with the Kremlin. He has no power now though, so don't worry about him.

Everyone who consistently does things for others has some selfish motives. Our selfish motive to help Ukraine is our own security. USA's selfish motive is maintaining their world leading position. UK's motive has always been a mystery for me - they did as little as possible on the humanitarian level but really a lot of military level. That was precisely against the general European trend, especially at the beginning of the full scale invasion. It puzzled me.
If UK's selfish motives are PM's personal selfish motives, it's bad. It does not offer consistency over political changes.

You have hit the nail on the head. Our recent PMs are only interested in their own welfare and finances. They want to have 'I was British Prime Minister' on their CV (resume). They have got worse with each new one: Cameron-->May-->Johnson-->Truss for selfishness. Support for Ukraine is all for show. 'Look what a great leader I am.'
I have more faith in the British people. Most of us want to help Ukrainians and do our best. We are directly in conflict with our government now because they have very dark plans for us. Opinion polls show that most of us like the opposing party, Labour, and not the Conservatives.
However, we can't force the government to hold an election because unlike the USA, elections don't have to be held every 4 years. The government can choose to hold one at the best time for themselves, ensuring they will survive.
Our PMs since Cameron have all resigned and been replaced on the recommendation of a few thousand people. Not democratically voted for by the 68million British people.
The government is running down our health service, cutting benefits for everyone, making rich people richer...I think that soon they will make elections illegal so we will never get them out of power.
Britain is in a very dark place and probably not a democracy now. And you can be sure there is A LOT of Russian influence on the Conservative government, Russians are behind a lot of British government actions, particularly Boris Johnson who has KGB friends...
