I actually came back to edit that, as I knew the likes of your good self would pick that up and run with it and I did not want a post modernist fork on the nature of individuality and membership of idealogical groups.

I have never seen a postmodernist fork. Is it like God?

The filler is the most important part of the apple pie! Thats ME!

Thank you for including me in the list as an add on, has been, also ran. I was pleased to be noticed. As a Canadian I would like to say that polite trumps might, but even I wont vote for me.

I dislike the apologist movement in atheism; I am only interested in rationalism. I'm willing enough to criticize belief, and I think it should go away. But as my friends like Orwell demonstrate, there are religionists that are far more intelligent and rational than I ever will be. He'll do good work in this life.

Its the overt display of faith that is bothersome to me, but thats largely a Canadian trait.

Whats ol' 84 doing running with the bad crowd anyway? Ever notice that? Who here thinks he should come out of the atheist closet?

Nonsense, every atheist is just engaged in delusional hatred of God, and this is because they reject Him so that they may sin. To all atheists, God means judgment, condemnation, the fires of hell, and those just stand in the way of their hateful, lust-driven, and degenerate lives.

How can you engage in a hatred of God, say he means something to you, and even furthermore, attribute characteristics to him while having no belief in him? How can you attribute qualities to something you have no belief in?

Well, that was sarcasm, but there is a small subset of Christian and Muslim apologists who actually advance that line of thinking.

Sorry, I totally didn't get that it was sarcasm

Dent, I've been wondering where you've been. As I'm sure you know by now, there is a thread set up specifically to question your atheist credentials. You must defend your honor! Filthy commie bastard. :P

No, I just find that on WP you guys are the ones with a sense of humor. The other Christians here (at least the ones who are outspoken about their faith) follow a very different sort of Christianity than I do, and that branch has long since rejected me as a heretic. I guess it's my fault for wanting to study biology and make a contribution to medical science, though.

It's funny when people say funny things. Atheists have nothing silly to defend. It's the faithful who twist sense into mental pretzels that are funny.

It depends, there are few atheists who still believe in mystical things.

Atheists in general are pretty down to earth. I have no mystical concepts about my thing at all.

Nope cant be bothered, all AG has done is to role out the same old, mal formed, rhetoric some might even call it anti-Marxist dogma :P

As I understand it AG was once quite religious, which means this recent burst of atheism could well be an aberration and he will return to the fold of the delusionaly content. I on the other hand did the opposite, ten or so years ago I trotted along to church for maybe a month, perhaps two, and tried to pretend that when I prayed there was a non fictional being that gave a nano s**t about me. The realisation soon struck that rather than needing conjure up delusional feelings for an imaginary god, I would be far better served attending to my depression.

So AG to be able to honourably hold the mantel of most strident atheist on WP will take years of atonement for your previous religious sins. If you are handed and then choose to accept this high honour I will view it as a disgrace of the same magnitude as Obama accepting the peace prize :P

To sum up AG I was godless when you were still a teeny boy tugging the priests todger

Studies have found superstition and belief in the paranormal, psychics, pseudoscience, etc to be significantly more common among atheists, actually. Indeed, our own Mr. Dent is an advocate of homeopathy.

More common than whom - religious people? I doubt that.

Ironically enough, yes. You'd be doubting empirical evidence.

Sounds like a rigged poll that was manipulated via semantics rather than something actually scientific. Religion itself is a superstition...so obviously superstition is more common with religious people: it's endemic.
