Black culture has a long and diverse history. Classic black jazz is anything but crude and has had a major influence on all music throughout the world, classical and otherwise. Picasso's revolutionary work was heavily influenced by African art.

Roman cultures also have a long and diverse history, and the "black" part has nothing to do with the annoying aspect that is unfortunately portrayed in media format as being integrated inseparably. What is actually annoying is a form of plebeian culture which is inclusive of far more than just one shade of melanin.

Plebian, of course, refers to the guys who do the work to keep civilization going. But, of course an aristocrat like yourself has nothing but contempt for the guys who work at WalMart.

An aristocrat like myself... Yeah, I'm so rich. I'm almost done building an interstellar spacecraft which I paid for out of pocket...

Contempt for workers at Wal-Mart?  Hardly, I'm glad I'm not working there anymore though! Wal-Mart's management sucks!

Say would you like an hundred trillion dollars? :P

Ah yes. The American confusion of money with aristocracy.

Well, you define by implication that the antonym to an aristocrat is a plebeian and even, particularly, an employee at Wal-Mart. If you knew anything about me then you'd know how utterly wrong you are! I am a plebeian, and have worked at Wal-Fart. I despise the corporation, not the workers who are trapped there. If I weren't fired from them under a false accusation, then I'd probably still be financially trapped by them.

There are values other than money and workers at ordinary jobs can qualify in many ways as aristocratic. I was aware you had worked at WalMart.

Oh really, and I suppose you have a self-serving definition of "aristocracy" custom tailored just for me, even though I know you'll claim it's "one size fits all".

Your definition seems based on money. Mine is not.

I feel as an aristocrat trapped in a proletarian world.

I hate the crass MTV culture that surrounds me. I would give anything to escape.

I'm close though.

It would be nice if we could get this discussion back on track...
I don't see the relevance of the slurs against Walmart...

And Hanotaux, I can understand what you 're expressing. I wish you could find what it is
you are looking for in this forum and that it would bring you some hope. It's good that you have
addressed something that many of us feel strongly about...It gives us all a chance to dialogue
and learn and look at our own beliefs more closely.

Take Care,
Anjie

Just completely disregarding race, the MTV culture is just plain stupid. :/ If you disagree, then you're just brainwashed.

That might just be the only thing in life that I can be that certain about.

Thanks Anjie:

What I mean by "I'm close" is that I just want to get out of the trapped "diverse" neighborhood.

I feel like everyone around me is an "MTV" wanna-be ghetto drone and I hate all of that nonsense so much. It is so tacky.

The thing is that since I live around many of these types, I hate people thinking that I have some sort of affinity for the wi99re culture as well.

I fear though I have no hope in this forum at least............

It seems to be dominated by a few leftist bullies who go after anyone who dares dissent from them until they just say 'screw it.'

Maybe they're histrionic, don't let their problem be yours.

This is a tough forum. I may think you're a jerk and you may think I'm a jerk so, in a way, we're not too different.

Everyone thinks this at first, it's not that this place is dominated by a particular political view so much as that we have a few particularly vocal members that create that impression. In the bad old days we actually had a few bad apple mods that would penalize people that disagreed with their politics, fortunately that sort of thing no longer goes on here. Just stick with it a bit, PPR can be really rewarding once you get the hang of the place.

What are you talking about? This thread is an explosive topic that anywhere else would have immediately devolved into angry name calling, and yet most of the responses by far (except for a few tangents) have been extremely reasonable and many people included a lot of food for thought in their replies.

I can't be bothered to read back through the whole thread but I don't think that many disagee with your main point.

I for one don't like the title of the thread or the stereotyping that it implies. Even though you try to clarify later.

Too much political correctness you may think? But as apparently so many Americans think that the president is a Muslim and believe all manner of nonsense so
are you surprised that people can be a bit touchy?

Do you think that all the black people enjoy living in your area? Do you not think that many of them would prefer to live somewhere else?

Why do you think that I have a degree? That my brother and partner also have degrees?
How do you think that we could afford to move to a better area? To buy yet another house so that our mother could move to a better area?

That is black culture. But all you want to talk about is MTV.

God helps those who help themselves.

That's the American way isn't it?

Everyone else can just drown in the cesspool. (unless you are a leftie bully)

So if you don't like living with that neighbourhood get qualified, get a job and move.
If you can't do that then you are in the same boat as many of the other inhabitants. Better learn to row together.

When you get your nice plot in the suburbs you might find that as an apsie you don't get on with those folks either.

And if you think the forum is harsh you should have read the first cut of this.

I'm feeling the same way...
You were brave to bring this up to the forum.

Hang in there,

Anjie
