'Gay' and 'ret*d'

What do you think of saying 'gay' and 'ret*d' as slang?

I find it offensive to gay people and the mentally handicapped	37%	[ 26 ]
It doesn't offend me but I think it's stupid to say those words that way	18%	[ 13 ]
Makes you sound like you're stuck in the early 2000s and still enjoy Limp Bizkit	17%	[ 12 ]
I say the words that way out of habit but I still think it's wrong	8%	[ 6 ]
I say those words all the time in that context, who cares? Words change meanings.	20%	[ 14 ]

I once heard this said "You don't call people who are mentally disabled "ret*d" you call people who act like they are mentally disabled despite not being it "ret*d""

The "gay" thing on the other hand, some things are just gay. Twilight, Sex and the City and so on.

I dont really care about them to be honest. It is amazing most NTs still use words in slang terms this old. I hear it all the time from people when something is stupid or annoying or it is something that person doesnt like that person will say "that is so gay" or "that is so ret*d". Now if the person turned around and called me a ret*d I would be deeply offended I would want to punch that person in the face.

I admit it - - I use terms like "gay" and "ret*d" habitually and without thinking, but I realize that I and others shouldn't.

If I say someone is a douchetard, and he understands I mean to insult them, then it's as good a word as any

Reminds me of the first time I saw "The Stand". One of the characters was described as "deaf and dumb". I kept thinking that he didn't seem dumb at all. Only when I watched it again a few years later did I realize that "dumb" used to mean "unable to speak". :lol:
That was dumb of me....in a different sense of the word.

Some are not as secure in their own self confidence and sense of self worth as you my friend.
When I was in school, even though I was often the smartest kid in class, I was perceived as coming across as mentally slow (nobody knew what Asperger's was back then in this country) - and was teased and picked on for that reason. That's still a sore spot for me.
