Do you regard yourself as "fascist?"

I was thinking that word would describe him rather well, too. And I don't throw it around lightly, because most people misuse it.

Oops, I didn't see this before.
From you this is a compliment.
Thank you! :D

You're welcome, and thanks for clearing that up.

-4 conservo-cred points for agreeing with a "sniveling liberal".

i do not really have many gripes about australia, but a few things are not quite satisfactory i guess.

i do not like the fact that sport is so revered, and i do not like that the fact that if i am not interested in sports, then that fact results many times in a frosty social experience.

i could not care less who is playing where or when.

the average australian (in my opinion) seems to be more accepting of mediocrity and less so of exception.

there is a "tall poppy" syndrome where average people look suspiciously at people who are in commanding positions. anyone who rises above the average is fair game for the admonition of people who are living a tough life.

many TV ads these days are filled with "assurances from satisfied customers", and they pick the most broadly average people to play the roles of "satisfied customers". people who sound not that smart at all.

it is a ploy to lure more average "gidday mate" australians to part with their cash.

i was bewildered that rudd won the election in 2007.
i disliked him profusely, and i felt that i was aware clearly of his artificiality, and i thought there was no way he could win. but he did, and at that time, i suffered a decline in my admiration of australians because i could not believe they could be romanced by his grimmacing face sprouting words that had no basis.

then gillard (the worm) ate her way in to the core of the misplaced apple (our government who lost direction under rudd) and then there was the celebrations that a woman was finally prime minister.

my eyebrows were not symmetrical for quite a large portion of my observation of the parliament,
they still are not.

i like everything else about living in australia though.

I didn't call any individual a "sniveling liberal".
That would be a personal attack and would cause a phenomenon commonly known here as "butt-hurt".

How would calling someone a "sniveling liberal" result in "butt-hurt?" One typically snivels from one's nose. Drawing attention to one's snivels wouldn't lead to butt pains. Are you just trying to be silly?

If you want us to call you a "fascist", then please put something to that effect in your signature, so as to avoid being accused of violating the site's rules.

And no fair putting it in your signature, and then quickly removing it as soon as someone calls you a "fascist", so that you can promptly tattle to a moderator.

1. The Religious Right.

And their attempts to infiltrate the Republican party. I would vote Republican if they just didn't try to take away so many social rights. I am transgender so I feel very unsafe due to the religious people in the Republican party.

2. The average person's apathetic nature or revulsion toward politics.

If they cared the politicians would be forced to care for their vote.

3. The tolerance of corporations who offshore jobs.

This, in effect, has made the United States more prone to recession and unemployment alongside other contributing factors.

4. Willful ignorance.

Americans will not look into the current atrocities our government has and is committing against many middle eastern countries. Americans think its okay and take pride to be "average, stupid, and unknowledgable". What is the point of individualism if Americans would rather conform?

5. The military industrial complex that is powered by the ultra wealthy and/or religious elite.

Many, if not most, weapons that are currently in possession of dictatorships come from the United States.

6. Private/for-profit prisons.

7. Too much patriotism.

This is a country where people have so much patriotism that they are totally willing to overlook or ignore the issues we are facing as a nation. No, the USA is not #1. It is one of the most backward of the top developed nations.

8. People forget that we are guaranteed "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness".

And that food, shelter, water, and medicine is necessary for the life part. By treating it like a commodity, we are breaking one of our most fundamental promises.

9. Hollywood

I'm serious. Hollywood glorifies war, violence, and the second-class citizenship of minorities such as women as LGBT. Also unnecessarily sexualizes women. One of the reasons I will only pay out of my pocket for Pixar movies. The rest of Hollywood can suck it!

10. Obesity rates

People are becoming so fat and irresponsible that the government feels that it has to intervene. With the current rates of obesity, maybe we do need to become a nanny state in this regard.

11. War on Women

12. War on Science and Reason

13. How it seems that Christian fundamentalists want to take us back to the dark ages.

14. America's anti-intellectual mentality.

1. Even in tolerant countries many persons are intolerant.
2. Idiotic waste of ressources
3. many persons do not think and are uninterested in politics.
4. populism

(Applicable to every western country)

High levels of corruption: things can't get done because a lot of money is lost that way, and everyone sees public projects as ways to steal money, which is probably true.

Guerrilla, even though it's losing power.

Poverty, and even more worse, misery. A lot of people can't cover all their basic necessities of food and shelter.

High rates of urban crime. I carry a very old nokia because I've been mugged two times this year, one of them at gunpoint, and they refuse to take it. I wish I could get a fancier one without fear to lose it. I wouldn't be able to talk on the street, and even then I can just be randomly targeted, so I'm staying that way.

Cultural lazyness, after seeing how efficient Germans are it's that much more obvioud.

The sheer amount of ridiculous qualifications you need to get most jobs.
The huge layer of fat that blankets the masses.
Patriotism.
BNP.

ive been to california a few times. it might sound silly but a lot of the stuff i like just happens to be quite california focused. I find the people of california a whole lot friendlier than the vile british. i know everywhere has its downside but i get on with americans and in britain i dont talk to ANYONE.

We have all of those things in the US, too.
