IIRC, someone did a chemical analysis once and discovered that there are really only 4 things in the KFC coating, and they are salt, pepper, flour, and MSG. I never did trust that colonel...

I always assumed that there was human flesh in it.

Soylent Chicken

Now and again the thumb of an employee of a KFC restaurant.

Dear Aunt Blabby,

Are you getting Physical Therapy, and if so, is it helping?

I do wish you a quick(er) recovery!

The only thing I might miss are ho-hos...in two years I'll be out of the house and able to make them myself. And they'll taste better.

So I'm not really that upset about "no more twinkies."

Shame about the people who are losing their jobs. [Maybe they can work for Little Debbie.]

Where I live Twinkies and Hostess products in general are not too popular. I very rarely even see them except once in a blue moon in a convenience store. And they were only sold in packages of two. The grocery store has boxes of Little Debbie and other pastries and cakes, often on sale or two boxes for around $5. But I guess if Tim Horton's or Canadian Tire were closing down forever we'd be freaking out up here just as much. :)

Anyway what's really scary is that this is probably the beginning... of the end. We have nothing to look forward to but more and more once-successful businesses shutting their doors, more unemployment and poverty, and we won't even be able to eat even the junky food products just to keep from starving let alone the healthy ones. If there's really such a thing any more. I still remember being encouraged to drink orange juice with breakfast by my mother, turns out it was more fattening than pop.

Don't want to get people's hopes up, but I've read some reports that the unions may have backed off somewhat. Not sure whether or not this will accomplish anything.

He was looking for the union label, no doubt.

It's too late. Hostess is already in liquidation.

It's like saying, "We're ready to play by the rules" after the game has been called off.

Actually, I'm hearing on MSNBC that the judge has ordered management to go back to the table with the workers, so all is not lost. This was after the judge learned about the golden parachutes management had arranged for themselves, all the while allowing their workers to be left destitute.
And in addition, I'm big enough to admit when I'm wrong. I had very uncharacteristically slammed the union for the Hostess shutdown. In fact, management had gone bankrupt twice, and had squandered their gains. Now, they are putting the blame on the workers for - God forbid - wanting benefits and a living wage. I don't know what I was thinking.

When I was a kid I liked Hostress cupcakes and ding dongs, but was not into twinkies much.

Okay, I found a link on CNBC: Twinkies maker Hostess lives at least another day

Quote:
Hostess Brands Inc. and its second largest union agreed on Monday to try to resolve their differences after a bankruptcy court judge noted that the parties hadn't gone through the critical step of private mediation. That means the maker of the spongy cake with the mysterious cream filling won't go out of business yet.

Thanks for the correction. :D

Any bets on how long this is going to drag out?

God only knows how long. But if they can pull of a deal, it'll be worth it for the workers, and the eaters of Twinkis everywhere.

I'm not into snack cakes and candy bars, but I'll say the unions and the company executives better had come up with a solution now. Twinkies are a part of American food galore.

When I first heard "soylent green", I thought they were saying "soil and cream".

BTW, I am a big 12-Oz. Mouse fan.
