Yes, the possibility exists. But where is the evidence for it? Why there is none, which prove absolutely that the conspiracy theory is true. The Conspirators always cover up every trace of their doings.

I don't dismiss the possibility of false flags ever happening but it seems unlikely they'd target such high profile and highly photographed event. Too risky and what is the upside? If it were an inside job then they'd probably would of fingered somebody to blame for it by now. You seem concerned they'll use it as a pretext to war which unless they could pin directly to the government of a foreign country doesn't make sense. Al Qaeda or domestic wannabes really doesn't change anything, we're already "at war" with them and have no quarrels in violating the sovereignty of other countries to pursue them. "Right wing extremists" fits the narrative of a false flag much more than it does Jihadists,

Now I wouldn't put it past the FBI to have had contact with the bombers and helped them gather materials in order to bust them later and ended up losing control of the situation. Most foiled terrorist attacks are creations of the FBI.

The FBI has insufficient shame to cover up one of their phony operations that happen to explode for real. They know the media will report what they tell them to report and if anyone points out the FBI role they'd be dismissed as conspiracy mongers. That's already what happens in the case of the plots that they draw up from A to Z.
