Pretty much sums it up for me, with the addition that as I am not likely to become a historically famous person and therefore the memory and influence of my life will be expunged in a few short years.

I like Mark Goldman's take on death:

Quote:
“Death is a release from the impressions of the senses, and from desires that make us their puppets, and from the vagaries of the mind, and from the hard service of the flesh.”

Sounds like a good opportunity to get some rest.... but I don't like too much downtime. I think I'll probably try to get a part time job in an Anthropology department somewhere.

That you die - lights out that's it. Mirorgaisms and some animals decompose your body and breathe out some of you carbon as carbon dioxide.

Never really got heaven and hell, especially hell, even when I was religious.

Heaven - if some people are going to heaven then why do they/we have to go through Earth when heaven is supposed to be better.

Hell- if god is all - powerful and all - loving then why would he punish people and sent them to hell.

The reincarnation - I believe it's more likely than heaven and hell but it doesn't make sense. Wverythog has a beginning, middle and end.

IMHO they are all of a piece, IOW we incarnate on earth in order to learn spiritual lessons which we digest between lifetimes in heaven, and then reincarnate further on earth in order to apply the spiritual lessons we've learned in previous lifetimes. it is all about the gradual spiritual evolution of earth kind.

well, death is all about a new beginning. I believe in re-incarnation so maybe there is life after death, and whilst some people go all out and pray to God every day and night I think you do fare better if you try to listen to your heart and tap into your soul once in a while because before you realise, the matter which once existed around you, turns to molten ash and rock in seconds. God bless the heroes who died in the forest fires of Arizona Miami Florida and Las Vegas.
