this is the attitude of so many - "I got mine to hell with anyone else". I am against keeping people out period, every generation in my nation has railed against immigration/immigrants as what is wrong and what would destroy our nation and what was killing our jobs, and every single time the fresh set of people have contributed in great ways.

That was during a completely different time during a completely different age when a radically different system was in place.

You know what was radically different back then? The people living on the land had bows and arrows, and the people moving in had guns and cannons. The natives had a functioning economy, system of trade, and way of living that was completely destroyed by Europeans moving in, far worse than the minimal effect of current immigrants who largely integrate themselves into our economy.

I am not disputing any of what you have said and was not disputing it in my original statement.

Not really, Texas and the rest of the southwest were very very sparsely populated by Mexicans before annexation and many Tejanos actually fought with the much more numerous Anglo settlers against Santa Anna and Mexico City in the Texas Revolution. Mexico only had Texas for about 15 years and the rest of the southwest for a little more than 25. Before that it was claimed by Spain.

very narrow view, they had all of California, and were a major presence

What constitutes a major presence? A few remote settlements of a couple hundred maybe a thousand or two in places like Sante Fe? As said, many of the Mexican citizens in these territories fought alongside Anglo settlers against the Mexican government too. The Mexican citizens weren't forced from their lands and they were given the option of American citizenship with full civil rights if they stayed which all but a insignificant amount did. Mexico has no legitimate claim to that land.

Mexican Texas (1821-1836) tried to abolish slavery.

When The Republic of Texas (1836-1845) was founded, slavery was reinstated.

Then Texas joined the US as one of the Southern Slave States.

I think in the US you can't get welfare or food stamps unless you are a citizen, which takes at least 15 years of you being here. There was a big kerfuffle when I was coming out of high school whereby a lot of kids couldn't get in-state college tuition because they were immigrants (usually came here when they were a baby not by personal choice). I haven't heard of immigrants getting welfare, only locals.

"should not"?
I don't think that you can draw a 'should' or 'should not' from the past and present, only the future. If dissolving the US would somehow result in world peace, and leaving it intact would result in war forever then yes: it 'should' be dissolved.

We do have to face the facts, though, that the current nation is the result of genocide, war, immigration without permission of the residents, and hundreds of broken treaties.
In due time America will collapse and China might take over without needing to use force. Sometimes it takes imperialism to take over Imperialist nations.

Ireland didn't survive. Its economy is still in a dire, dire state.

Iceland's economy is flourishing in part because they aren't in the EU (the EU themselves admit this!) and had the courage to honestly deal with their own mistakes - for example, by letting the banks go to the wall. In a few short years, Iceland's economy is flourishing again. Where is Ireland's?

Most Icelanders (especially fishermen and farmers!) want nothing to do with the EU.

If the EU wants to play silly buggers with the Swiss, the Swiss will respond in kind.

ITs less about breaking friendships, in general the voting want do much of a change. Many young switzers education focuses on economy today, the reason why Switzerland has such a high number of immigration is that rarely no Switzer has such a bad school-education to be willing to work in a "McJob", as well that that they miss skilled workers (electricians, plumbers, ...) as well as practical academics as medicians/engineers.

The reason why there is so much immigration actual in Switzerland, is because of them offering tons of jobs to immigrants, so as example my sister who studied medicine, got her job right from the university, where Switzer hospitals were advertising to immigrate into the Switzerland, so that they can hire you.

I do understand that Switzers might feel disturbed by the actual high immigration rate (while most of them are Austrians and Germans, who speak for parts the same language). But actually if the Switzers want to change that, they should do less voting, and more care for their kids learning more different jobs. There is no much use in all becoming secretaries and bankers, when noone can built your office, noone can clean it, noone can work because of the missing electricty and IT, and all get ill because of the great numbers of missing doctors.

The treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo was violated left and right from the moment the treaty was ratified by the Senate; very few Mexicanos were able to hold onto their land, largely because the new government did not recognize their titles (i.e., 'you say you own that land, and that your family has owned that land for the last five generations, but you can't prove it on paper.') In addition, Anglos passed Jim-Crow type laws against Mexican citizens and used bullying and violence against them to force them off their land.

That is an excellent point. If the Swiss wanted less immigration, they could focus on less job specialization, and more job generalization. More education for trades (construction, plumbing, gardening) would be nice.
The thing is, if the Swiss are taking highly specialized jobs, they will always get paid better than low-skilled immigrants. If you ask me, the Swiss have nothing to fear from immigration. Education and wealth are always more powerful than numbers alone.

It just shows you dont have to be Caucasian to be racist, racism between other immigrant ethnic groups occurs quite often! The Chinese lady must have come here legally and got her citizenship after being in the country for many years and manages to run a businiess running the store and doesnt like the Mexican Individual at her store with the possibility of him being a descendant of an illegal immigrant who lives off of wellfare and ebt and has many kids and out of her frustration her racist streak comes to rise as well as his so they begin being racist towards eachother! There are now Mexicans complaining about recent Chinese undercutting them for jobs!

I don't think that guy was "Mexican," and there's no way of knowing if his parents were legallly here or not.

I don't think that anyone ever said that non-caucasian people couldn't be racist, but there's a difference between "racism" and "racial bigotry." The former implies a position of power with which to inflict one's bigotry on the target population, meaning that whites (as the dominant and numerically most significant group in the US, at the moment) have (in general) more opportunities to be racists as well as bigots.

i dont know what from that video automatically implies the chinese lady was being racist.

She didnt throw any racist epithets. For all you know she had previous experience of the guy. Maybe he is a gangster or has been causing problems in her shop in the past.
