That's a weasel-worded statement. A lot of Israeli civilians are tired of him, and many critics point out that he regularly takes stuff out of context, ignores anything that does not conform to his views, and so on... not unlike Glenn Beck or Michael Moore.

"Noam Chomsky is a widely known intellectual, political activist, and critic of the foreign policy of the United States and other governments. Noam Chomsky describes himself as a libertarian socialist, a sympathizer of anarcho-syndicalism and is considered to be a key intellectual figure within the left-wing of US politics."

He's a douchebag, in other words.....

You just said that in a really cute way, plus your avatar is super cute lol :)

It is good that many Jews are critical of Zionism, it is evil ethnic cleansing. I don't like many of the Islamic extremists which represent the Arab side on this but the Palestinians have a really good reason to be pissed off. I hope they can make peace and give full rights to Palestinians but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Anyways it was very interesting, and points out many jews do not align themselves with Israel and many are even very critical of it, seems its the younger generation becoming more critical...and I don't think they are anti-semitic against themselves. Also the article points out both sides are behaving in a problematic manner.

Guys let's not worry about bias and past history and focus on the argument at hand. Simply judge Chomsky's argument with respect to this issue, his other views are irrelevant. The author of the argument does not matter, the argument does.

If I am not mistaken prior to Zionism the Arabs were the absolute majority on Israel. Why would Arabs from other countries go to live in besieged areas in great numbers? It makes no sense. Regardless, can you cite a source for this?

BECAUSE of the intifadas. They wanted to help their Palestian brothers so they came from other areas. This is common knowledge. It was the Arab Israeli war.
A lot of the Arabs came because of the conflict they did not live there before. Many people do not realize this. They are from other countries. A lot of them are from Egypt and Lebanon.
People will yell IT WAS THEIR LAND they don't know what they are talking about.

WRONG. The Jews had already been spread throuout the roman empire, and probably homogenized somewhat. There was no such thing as an Israeli yet. Israelis only came about after the Jews took Israel from the Palestinians.

You forgot to bold the word "wrong."
You should talk to a real Israeli he will tell you the FACTS about these Arabs and where they came from. They all came to gang up on Israel during the war in 1948 and more during the uprisings.

they came to the aid of Palestine because they knew kicking people off their land was wrong. also jews have always been in Palestine and they never had problems till they tried to make a secular Jewish state.

there has always been a native arab population there if anything the jews are the non natives they came out of Egypt. but none of that really matters what matters is what the Israeli state is doing, they have segregated the Palestinians and have bombed civilian populations multiple times they also use chemical weapons on the Palestinians white phosphorous also known as willy peat is one of their favorites. no other country in the world is actively segregating their populations like Israel

oh wow, I totally misunderstood  I don't like extremism in general...its just hateful and contributes to lots of violence and death. But yeah I would like to see both sides make peace but it seems that may not happen any time soon. Though it would seem some attitudes are changing which I see as a good thing.

I realize now it could have been read in a different, nasty, way but it absolutely was not meant like that. I wouldn't say that. Sorry about the ambiguity.
I agree that the change in attitudes is a positive step :)

If you are arguing for a significant Arab migration into Palestine in recent times then it should not be hard to find a source which details this. It is different for Arab armies to fight Israel (wars the Arabs mostly lost), and different for refugees to pour into Palestine from neighbouring countries. If is the latter then please provide a respectable source.

It was mostly their land until the Zionists started coming by the millions. I do not know the details of the wars but I think the Arabs were justified in fighting the migrants who were ethnically cleansing their sisters and brothers from their own land.
