@ Yigeren: Thankyou, Thankyou, THANKYOU, for posting that you've been discriminated against, as well. There are people who like to think it doesn't exist----OR, that we should just put-up with it, cuz *Look what we did to them* (what *we* did to blacks, for instance). Well, I didn't do anything, and I'm quite sick of having to pay for those who DID!!

I also agree that these things shouldn't be tolerated for ANY group!!

Be rpud of your individual culure, identify it and embrace it, I found out with a new discovery I am a Celt I used to be told I was part native American for a long time but was lied to and decived and dissapointed for a long time, but had a recent genetic test indicating purely Irish and welsh genes so I had to take some time to adjust to it and accept it, I am purely White but not in a bad way, im no supremist or anything like that. I looked up on a documentary on my ancestors and they were cool and awesome and I accept it and am at piece. I had black supremists tell me White people have no culture and I used to belive that for some time and was ashamed and confused and lost in touch with who I am until now and I respond back I am Welsh and Irish and gtf outa here! I am me and know who I am my race does not identify me but I know my culture now.

If you like some things from the European Enlightenment, or ancient Greek philosophy or whatever else, then they belong to you, whatever color your skin happens to be. Stamping these ideas with a white race label is a good thing to do if you want to alienate non whites from millennia of European cultural output including certain ideas about liberty and equality that it would be best for newcomers to be open to.

Unfortunately I think OP is right, but other races and their groups get a free pass just because they were treated worse than other groups. Still doesn't make sense though.

In some British communities, practicing genealogy is something which is considered humiliating and wrong because it is evidence of "social climbing." How sad that a society denigrates its own history. My genealogy derives largely from white royals and nobles, and the occasional non-white individual (Roots' Alex Haley is a cousin, for example). Anyone who does genealogy for more than 10 minutes understands that every pedigree includes more than one race. I respect my English, Irish, Scottish, Manx and generally Celtic and Pictish ancestors every bit as much as I respect my ancient ancestors, Muhammad and King David, and our cousin, Jesus. Got it? Good.

I'm *technically* not white, as I have some First Nations heritage, and as such I consider myself Metis... but at the end of the day I'm mostly white. But to be more exact, along with First Nations, I am also Ukrainian, French, German, Irish, and Swedish among other things I forget, and I'm damn proud of my heritage.
