... couldn't Comey at least have waited 3 days, so I didn't have to revise my statement? What a meanie...

Anyway, it will be interesting to see if more specific information will emerge in the next few days. Both the Trump and Clinton camps are asking for more details, but the letter from Comey to Congress suggested that we might have to wait until *after* the election to learn more about the new emails...

why aren't more people expressing the suspicion that this election will be a lot closer than what the polls are saying?

Yep. Three October surprises in the same year. And there are still three days of October, and 11 days of the election to go.

I predict that Trump will come up with some kind of smoking gun about Hillary, and make it public, but he will then blab that he was feed the information by his Russian accomplices, thereby incriminating both of him and Hillary in the same moment. And both Trump and Clinton will be carted off to the big house in orange jumpsuits and in handcuffs. And we will just have to start the whole thing all over again.

I would pay money for a pic of that man scrubbing out toilets in an orange jumpsuit.

Have you not noticed that every time someone says that, they get accused of being some sort of brainwashed Trump shill?

Because the polls have been very good for the past five elections. People know they can trust them.

There's a chance that it will be closer than they suggest, but it's not likely.

She was 12 points ahead in the same poll last week. It is just one poll I am suspicious of of both last weeks and this weeks numbers, but this is another reminder that those counting Trump out yet again are mistaken.

Given the influx of news, and the criminal investigations underway, I don't know how anybody can believe "End of the line for Trump?" any more.

I would say that there are two possible outcomes- 1]Hillary wins by a photo finish that is contested just as shrub vs gore in 2000 or even longer, and the senate and house GAIN GOP seats resulting in nothing but gridlock for the next 4 years, or 2]the rump wins in a brexit-style landslide and together with a lapdog GOP congress, packs SCOTUS with borkian troglodytes and proceeds to take us all back to the gilded age, with massive increases in poverty/homelessness, massive increases in prison population, a real-life version of "Potterville" [dystopian alternate "Bedford Falls" in the movie "it's a wonderful life"] writ large, a nation of misery with a tiny portion living "lifestyles of the rich and famous" - a pariah among civilized nations. those who can afford to will be crowding the exits, the remainder mostly de facto slaves for food/indentured servants living in favelas, in a new quasi-third-world nation by design. and by the way, i'm betting there ain't gonna be any stupid wall. but there will be a vastly accelerated "race to the bottom."
