Sorry but every time I hear somebody who claims to be a Christian say something like that it really rubs me the wrong way.

Hehe. That would probably rub me up the wrong way too.

Christians slip and sometimes dive into their old ways.

I know I did and do.

Sometimes Athiest read the Bible more than Christians.

Maybe they don't always read it but I think sometimes they understand common sense and what really should be right and wrong better than Christians do.

We all know killing is wrong. It doesn't matter why you killed somebody regardless if you murder them, fight in a war, or execute a criminal when you kill somebody you rob them of their right to live life and you devestate any family and friends they had who loved them. When you take a life away you can never give it back.

Stealing is wrong because you are taking something that does not belong to you that somebody else worked hard to earn.

Rape is wrong because you are hurting a person by forcing yourself on them.

Lying is wrong (most of the time) because it hurts the person who trusted you when they find out you basically tricked them, but I do believe sometimes people lie with good intentions because they think they are sparing a person's feelings.

But these are things that every human on the planet knows is wrong to do. When a person commits any of these bad deeds it is because they made the choice to do it and nobody needs a religous textbook to teach them why it is wrong to do these things.

You are correct

The commandments are for Law Breakers.

Sometimes common sense
Is not too common.

As for me and my family
we will serve the Lord.

We also help in our community.
Love, prayer & joy.

Also consider this, atheists believe that this life is the only life we get because they don't believe in an afterlife. So I think that they are more inclined to believe that we should try and make this world a better place for ourselves and those we care about while we are still living because they don't believe that we get a second life.

This is not always a positive thing. Atheists are often lured into dangerous utopian ideas like communism or socialism, or sometimes hyper-Darwinian hyper-capitalist ideologies on the opposite side. It pays to remember that every attempt so far to create heaven-on-earth has not succeeded and has only created a kind of hell-on-earth, often much worse than the traditional religious societies they replaced.

I think religous people have created plenty of hell on earth too. Especially for anyone who isn't the same religion as themselves.

The only reason it isn't so bad in Western Civilization anymore like it used to be is because we actually do try to keep religion and law separated.

No doubt.

Some might argue that separation of state and Church was our greatest mistake and we merely live in the dusk of Christianity's presence.

But you still gotta admit things aren't as bad in Western Civilization as they used to be. Not by a longshot. No more witch hunting or burning "heathens" at the stake. :wtg:
