Black African Christians envision God the Father as being Black. And even God the Son as being Black.

Just like White Americans imagine God the Father as being an old White dude with a beard, and Christ as his auburn haired, blue eyed son.

Both visions are equally nonsensical. God the Father isnt supposed to be human at all, and God the Son is supposed to have been an actual man who walked the earth in the form of a Jewish carpenter who probably looked like Arabs, and Arab Jews, of today look (neither much like White Americans nor much like Black Africans).

There were Black African Christians before there were British Christians.

Islam was founded in what is now Saudi Arabia, and an archaic form of the Arabic language is the language of the Koran, but most modern Muslims are not Arabs, but are Southeast Asians. The most populous Muslim majority countries are 2000 miles to the east of Saudi Arabia (Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia).

Yes but that also underlines my point. Religious beliefs seem to mysteriously reflect ethnocentric world views.

Hard to believe a all powerful god decided that those worthy of heaven should speak Arabic or that there's only space for 240,000 white mormons.

Actually, God is fussier than that. There's only room for 144 000 Mormons, but they've gotta speak Arabic to get in.

That's Jehovah's Witlesses who have that 144K magic number for the capacity of Heaven.

Not Mormons.

The Mormon afterlife is completely different.

If you're a good Mormon in this life then you get to be the god of your own planet. You get your own exoplanet to rule over ... stocked with alien people to worship you.

Or.. SOME religion does that. I think that it's the Mormons.

I envisage the mormon jehovah would initiate some type of hunger games to whittle down the faithful given there is 16.7 million followers. It doesn't bode those black Americans foolish/gullible enough to invest their souls given what the "messiah" Joseph Smith said in the Book of Mormon, published in 1830. It states that black people rebelled against God and were cursed forever with "a skin of blackness" (2 Nephi 5:21) so can't enter the kingdom of heaven. Most white Mormons still believe that this was "god's will".

They dont like Blacks, but Mormons dont put a population limit on Heaven. In fact they want everyone, living and dead, to become a Mormon. So they cant very will put that kinda cap on it. The Mormon Church encourages you to retroactively convert your dead ancestors to Mormonism. And ....who knows? Maybe you will have a descendent a 100 years from now who will make you a Latter Day Saint. So maybe someday maybe all 100 billion humans who have EVER lived will be Mormon, and each will get rewarded... with his or her own planet!

I get what you're saying. In theory both Islam and Christianity are "Judaism for export", and decouple belief in the God of Abraham from being chained to the ethnicity of Judaism. But in practice religion does get infused into ethnic identity, and other things. Even class snobbery.

It's Calvinists that believe in the notion of the 144 000 chosen.

Its in the JW religion too.

Based upon a misreading of Revelations in the Bible.

Both Calvin and Luther, though, cast doubt on whether or not Revelations was even divinely inspired.

The holy books like the Torah, bible and Quran are like a Rorschach test. How they are understood depend on the individual person's interpretation which is then used to apply to their every day life with other people. They reflect the person's individual psychology and what they choose to cherry pick that's important.

With religion people tend to use conformity based on consensus rather than making an informed decision for themselves, for christians its called faith. With that type of blind obedience its any wonder people happily expect to get a red carpet from St Peter into to the Gates of heaven while still exercising a sense of superiority over people they deem not worthy.
