Abortion is not a men's issue; it is solely a women's issue.  Men should keep out of it.

Permanent one-party rule by the Democrats or something further to the left is the only option. The GOP needs to be voted out of existence. Conservatism needs to be criminalized.

I expect Abbot to ban Texas state elections entirely ... before the next Texas state election.

I do not see an effort to silence all opposition, just the knee-jerk foam-at-the-mouth type of rhetoric that has been going on for decades (centuries?), most of which seems to come from evangelical/fundamentalist, cis-men (who will never need abortions).

A logical approach would seem to be best; but I am neither a doctor nor a woman, so my opinions on the topic of abortion are completely irrelevant.

Except for the sincere belief that men should stay out of the debate.

Well, as far as the anti abortion people are concerned, the fetus is a person with rights, and so terminating it is murder, which society has an interest in, regardless of the sexes involved. I'm much less clear on the issue than I once was, I'm pro choice but not particularly passionate about it, and I'm sympathetic to the pro life position in some circumstances, but saying I'm not allowed to have an opinion is not particularly productive.

interesting .... item here... most people do not realize, That Texas never gave up its rights to be a Republic when it joined the union . So all things considered , if Texas wished to sucede from the Union . Technically the US might have difficulty trying to secure, that State legally .
Texas is another ballgame . They honestly do have ability to govern theirselves . And as you can see , they do have their own evangelical fundamentalist veiws .
But you would have to had history in school to understand the idea of the Republic of Texas.
If you were tryong to manage a Country that had a strong willed State in your Union .
And were aware of its original Republic status . You might want to elect a couple of presidents from that State / Republic , in order to strengthen its eagerness to want to be a inclusive State.
(But all this is a hypothetical. It is merely offered as a thought exercise)

I've met quite a few Texans who aren't evangelical nuts.

In fact, there were polls in which had Biden defeating Trump in the election over in Texas (even though Trump ultimately won the state). There might be a time when Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston might have enough Democratic votes to swing the state towards the Democratic candidate. It's not as solidly "red" as it is often made out to be. Not everybody there is a Bible-thumping nut.

It just so happens that they have an idiot governor in Abbott.

I don't feel Texas is "America's Iran." This is an insult to Texas.

We already did that. Elected two POTUS from Texas. W. Bush, and LBJ.

Its true that Texas was its own country, and then joined the Union. You say they retained the right to secede as part of the agreement to join. But Texas did secede, but as part of the Southern Confederacy during the Civil War. And the whole confederacy surrendered. So that ended Texas's option to legally secede again after THAT I would think.

Texas had to swear to the same oaths, and meet all the same conditions, as all the other ex-Confederate states, in order to be let back into the Union.
