I have tested as having definitely below average executive functioning ability. Not saying that means don't try, but holy s**t, it's hard and while there are tips and tricks, it never goes away. It will always be harder for me to accomplish daily tasks than it is for the neurotypical person next to me.
Don’t you get biofeedback sensations like “I’m hungry,” or “I’m thirsty,” or “I’m craving salt because I’ve been exerting myself all day,” ?? that then spur you into action to seek, prepare, and consume food/drink?
There’s not all thaaaat much I. The way of executive functioning required to respond to your body’s needs for sustenance.

The goal of the thread isn't to have a nuanced discussion about the factors that contribute to obesity, it's to pat ourselves on the back for being more fit than those obese Christian rednecks, who are only obese due to being too stupid and lazy to make wholesome food from scratch for every meal and instead dare to eat Big Macs - I can't remember the last time I ate a big mac - maybe one in the last 10-15 years ? Aren't I great?!
If you dare bring up financial situation, here's a bunch of tips that might not even be applicable. Who cares if they don't have a freezer, cold room, pantry, etc? Just buy in bulk is advice that's applicable to everyone, no exceptions.
What's ironic is that a portion of Christian Nationalists are also crunchies who'd 100% agree with goldfish, until they realize he's mostly using obesity as WWF folding chair to slug Christian Nationalists with.
I don't think any of us would dispute that a lot of people make poor dietary choices. Personal responsibility is undeniably a factor, along with being adequately educated on the topic, along with being able to set aside the time to prepare healthy food, along with the self-discipline to not make homemade food that's even worse than restaurant food, etc, etc.
People are monkeys with better abstract reasoning, but only when we're actively employing it. Otherwise we're easily manipulated by bright colours and what will trigger the next dopamine cycle. One of the downsides to the sort of economy we live in is that junk food is everywhere and it's almost always the easiest option. Heh, the stupid monkey takes the easy food over the hard food, how stupid pretty much has the logic backwards, the easiest food has historically been something we're programmed to take because we couldn't count on getting those calories.
The companies that sell that stuff are doing what we incentivize them to do (make money by selling their product). The people buying it are doing what biology predisposes them to.
It's not all about them being stupid, it's also about us collectively being too stupid to understand that this is a very foreseeable problem and to maybe regulate that sort of industry.

So now it’s the cheesy poofs corporation and ronald McDonald’s fault that people make poor dietary/financial choices?
Everyone else is to blame.. it can’t possibly be the compound effect of one’s own choices & lifestyle that makes people out of shape and broke.
C’moooonnn.. you can’t possibly believe that.

Yes, I believe it's far more nuanced than you insist on making the issue out to be, but if it's more complicated than 100% a personal failing you can't pat yourself on the back for how much better of person you are for your dietary choices. There's a reason why you're receiving pushback from several posters and it isn't because your take is just too reasonable for everyone who disagrees with it.
It's not really different than straight-edgers or vegans bragging about how they've got the solution to healthy living and everyone else is just too bad to join them in embracing their easy solution and thus deserving of contempt.
But hey, don't let me interrupt your sermon.

Are you really trying to act like immediately gratifying those needs isn't responding to them, but delaying gratification while one prepares a more healthy meal is?

Again you appear to be choosing to miss the point of the criticism in order to avoid facing it directly. A lack of executive function won't necessarily mean that one won't notice those needs, but they're more likely to sate those needs as easily as possible.
And everyone knows preparing a healthy meal from scratch takes the no more time, effort and executive functioning abilities as opening a bag of potato chips or making ramen or getting fast food.
You seem dedicated to warping the arguments you face into ones you can address, no matter how deformed they end up in the process.

I do not subscribe to any line of thinking that blames someone else for my choices if I eat a $12 Big Mac meal and a bag of chips for dinner. If I’m fat and broke for it, it’s because I made those poor choices. Ronny mcD isn’t to blame for it. Wtf

Some people do not notice those sensations until they are literally shaking from low blood sugar, yeah. It's a type of sensory issue where you are hyposensitive instead of hypersensitive.
That is not the case for me, but it is not uncommon for autistic people.
Executive dysfunction is a broad category that includes stuff like significant trouble starting tasks, working memory deficits, inability to complete tasks, and impulse control. The "trouble starting tasks" is incredibly common with autism.

I am thankful for life hack devices like this egg thingy that you can drop an egg into, stick in the microwave for 1 minute, and eat. Healthy breakfast with practically no prep work.
I also have a little conventional oven that can be used to bake, broil, or air fry.

Some people don’t experience feelings of fullness, either. Everyone is different. The OP seems to struggle with that fact. Once again I think it’s an empathy issue. Some people cannot understand how others might feel unless they’ve experienced it themselves.
A slow cooker can be your best friend if you have trouble cooking. No worries about catching the skillet on fire or scorching the food.I’m bad about getting distracted and once boiled some eggs dry.The smell was horrendous and lingered for days. It’s also why I have a working smoke detector in my kitchen even though I HATE the sound and want to smash it when it goes off.
Beans, roasts, stew and soup easily made and then freeze what’s extra.
I even made apple butter and yogurt in mine.
Load it up at night and in the morning there is a warm meal.
Also good for mulling cider!!

funeral's post a few above blames the fast food industry and suggests the solution is government regulation. I wouldn't mind if they were regulated into serving healthier food, but I believe it's peoples own responsibility not to make it a regular part of their diet.
On the executive functioning thing - does it not require executive functioning to Go to Mcd's and order & pay for food?

I either end up eating whatever snacks are in my house. Or will order delivery if I have money. Both of these things take significantly less effort. More often than not I literally take a bag of Cheezits as a meal over something more elaborate if it means having to fight executive dysfunction.
So my solution, since I can't cook consistently, is to have healthier snacks on hand. It doesn't take much executive function to eat some fruit and a bowl of lettuce.

This is much wiser than ordering delivery. Delivery fees & tip are very expensive.. good way to turn a $12 mcmeal into a $25 mcmeal real fast.
Fruit & veg are good. Hope you also have some form of protein available. Nuts/seeds etc are easy.
