How many are friends with a supernatural being?
Oh, right.
I speak to Eris, but think She only exists in the capacity of an anthropomorphic embodiment of the power of entropy. Since all things tend toward Her, her effects on our lives are visible, and speaking to Her about disorder is roughly the equivalent of speaking the ground about gravity.
But that's just me.

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo!! Eris!! Yeah!!
That's not the only capacity she exists in!! Wooooooooooooooo!! Pineal Gland!!

what this ( redemption bought by) means to me is that i owe my human consciousness to the sacrifice of my body.
Whereas in a chimpanzee the body and consciousness are one, and what the gene needs is done automatically by the whole animal, in homo sapiens this is no longer the case.
The human body is routinely subjected to confused and neglectful treatment, even outright abuse and torture, depending on the needs aswell as the desires, whims and cravings of our conscious and subconscious mind for whom the survival of the genetic pool of humanity is no longer the one overriding force, for whom other issues exist, which is the situation of humanity since our brain got bigger, 50,000-75,000 years ago, and some of it somehow "detached" itself from instinctual behaviour.
And i think gluten consumption, from 13,000 years ago when it first evolved in the middle east, had something to do with precipitating the neolithic revolution in agriculture and religion.
To paraphrase; i can only "know" god ( have this kind of consciousness, which is like a miracle, when look at all the other animals,) because of the sacrifice of my body. It is/was a real sacrifice. My body's pain exists as it is mistreated in so many ways; almost no human eats like monkeys do, and yet that is the diet to which our bodies are adapted, which keeps them in health. The body is also "objectified" by its new relationship to consciousness, it is "insulted" by our relationship to it of driver, owner, user.
I recognise the "death" of its old role ( which was one of unity, of being undivided from the rest,) and its suffering, and its resurrection in a new state of a mental power/force/capacity. Once i was one with this body, once this body was me, but it had to sacrifice itself for me to "know god"/have this mental viewpoint. But there is no point in its sacrifice if i do not know god, ( or otherwise appreciate/use my mental capacities such that makes the sacrifice worthwhile) if i do not realise what the purpose of its abasement was.
In a brief but powerful out-of-body experience 15 years ago, i wept for my poor beaten and battered body, and wiped away my tears with my hands, and then kissed my hands in gratitude for their wiping away of my tears. And for several years i believed i had to try and feed my body as much like a monkey as possible, to spare it as much suffering as possible. Very complicated dietary rules etc.
Didn't seem like anything except, as you say, a prison sentence from which i emerged suddenly about 2 years ago. Two years after realising that i was trying to turn back the clock, to pre-big-brain era, to UNcrucify the body by eating right. Every time i ate "wrong" i felt deeply guilty.
Only now discover that this mess, and disconnection, makes sense to me if i believe in god. A power great enough to create the universe. Suddenly i realise what so many people are going on about. Like my eyes have been opened. this is a language i've been missing all these years.
Anyway!
Would also have been good if i had restricted myself to falling in love with god all my life.

I don't believe in imaginary friends, especially ones claimed to be omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.

Because God takes the long view. Allah (Satan) is insane, and he's much weaker than Yahweh.
Yahweh and Allah are two different names for the same God. Judaism, Christianity and Islam all trace their origin to God revealing himself to Abraham (Ibrahim). While all three have some different ideas about the nature of God, they really aren't that different when compared to Hinduism, Shinto, or other religions.
If anything, Christianity is the odd-man out. Judaism and Islam are law-based religions and don't have this 'salvation through grace' idea the Christians picked up. Judaism has Kosher laws of diet, Islam has the Halal codes for food. Judaism and Islam still have blood sacrifices of animals for appeasing God; in Christianity, those were eliminated. Islam and Judaism both prescribe the death penalty for a variety of sins, although most modern Christians seem to have abandoned that based on the injunctions not to judge, not to cast the first stone. Judaism and Islam see the Mahdi/Messiah as a man, not as God incarnate, and both reject the idea of the Trinity as a misguided distortion of the one true God.
Arabic and Hebrew are clearly related Semitic languages and cultures. The scripts are similar, the roots of the words are similar, the ideological fix on the monotheism of Abraham is clear. You say Jerusalem, he says Dar es salaam - you are resonating the same concept and the same root phonemes.
IIRC Arab Christians refer to God as "Allah" as well, it's just the Arabic equivalent of how "The Lord" is used in a religious context in English.
Flying Spaghetti Monster. Try to pay attention.
May you be touched by his Noodely Appendage!
I completely missed the personal relationship aspect, actually because i had accepted too automatically, if invisibly, what society teaches about people and about god, that people are so rotten, so essentially bad, that could never have a relationship with anything perfect, beautiful, as powerful as god, because it wouldn't be in the scheme of things. Class structures and all that.
I'm still amazed.
I realise that one trojan-horse has been there since i was 10, the first few pages of a rubbishy soft-sexually-romantic book picked up at a second-hand stall and which introduced the idea into my head that people should fall in love with each other, be swept off their feet by other people, be adoring and devoted to a human being, allow another person to be more important than anything else on earth. This "piece" of programming introduced many other poisonous programmes in its wake.
Been gradually homing in on it the last 19 years, and finally got it quarantined!
To which I can only add this:

I believe in God but I think he is too great and incomprehensible a being to forge a friendship with.
I consider Joan of Arc, who I took as my patron saint on my confirmation, to be my spirit guide. I ask her to send me signs when I need them. Maybe it's the placebo effect, but she most often does.
Sometimes I invent conversations to have with dead people. I don't believe in ghosts; I'm just incredibly morbid. ![]()
