Yes humans are a caring race for the most part I would love to see us nurture that side of our humanity instead the side that wishes to obtain power and corrupt others. What happens to one of us trickles onward and affects the rest of the 6 billion or so people on the planet. So if a lot of good things happen then bam the other good things happen but if we nurture corruption and the lust for power bad things will ripple onward and things will get worse.

Go ahead, nurture it. Reward kindness wherever you go.

Ummm.... I do not think that personality is a major externality, nor would I see much reason to try to engage in personality control even if personality were a significant externality. Once again, I don't *want* to control other people, nor do I *want* to be controlled by other people.

Well, if we are going back to evolution, then we start getting to a pointless stage as I think most evolutionary predecessors for human beings that are recent are also tribal animals to a good extent.

What put us above others was the ability to work together, once most of the threats were out of the way we reverted back.

Yes, and modern society does not have so much of a force making them be so close.

I don't want to control people I want to reinforce good behavior and make sure everyone has universal health care so people don't die, and suffer when they don't have too.

Right, and that is science fiction and seems to be based upon economic notions that will never come true(the post scarcity society).

Post scarcity... so, farming on Mars anyone? Not much of an atmosphere, so you can't breath, meteors come through more than for Earth, and not to mention the solar radiation and wind of helium nuclei and positrons...

Not very likely IMO.

Well, yes, working together has always been our strength. It also will always be our strength. The issue is whether we will be forced to the vision of one person, or whether we will be free to choose to work together more purely upon our own terms.

Umm..... your sentence contradicts itself. You cannot get those latter things without control, the issue is that you want to control the system so that way it can reinforce what you think needs to be, and control the allocation of economic resources so that way it fits your version of a perfect society. I want you to be free to control your own actions, rather than to control others.

I understand what your saying but you know if done right we could lower taxes and still get universal health care. By cutting out useless spending like the road to no where I mean come on if its going no where its a waste of money. I suggest we scrap all that stuff and use the money for something good health care for everyone ^_^.

Well, right, I mean, the Star Trek enterprise, if you'll note, has a lot of amenities at seemingly no cost. It also is a military vessel. So, it cannot provide much of an example of a perfect society. We only get realism when we factor in real costs, and different interests.

I just recommend we reduce taxes and keep on going.

I was using it as an example ^_^ I mean we might not get to a society where their is no money but we should try for the Star Trek world ^_^ where tolerance is common place among many.

By "might not" I think "never will". Frankly, I am more content trying for my own virtue, and trying for my own life rather than any notion of a collective will. I mean, I do not control the world, I do not want to control the world, but rather just influence my piece of it.

I would like to be part a collective hive where individuality is allowed. Each of us individuals would act like one neuron in the brain that is known as humanity.

Good night all been fun ^_^ remember sweet dreams all that stuff.

Yes control is a bad thing, one person controling the others is a bad thing, it is like the idea of the flood in the Halo universe. The flood shares one mind but once it is absolute there will be total peace. But what the society should be is one big thing that is made up of all the small pieces. One problem with today is that the people who need the help can not be heard over the people who do not need it, like I know that we tend to idolise celebrities (not me) now if we work off these celebrities we don't want to help the poor. But serously why does a person need to earn $1million, how could a person need that, well this money they do not serously need could be imagined as things like food that may be needed by others. Have you seen how much a bussines director gets paid, and how much are they contributing to the comunity, but then you see all those people who contribute so much to comunity but get so little. Everyone should be equal in how the government/law responds to them, one of the things that angered me the most is how Paris Hilton was given some levy, and how OJ Simpson was almost let off as he is a celebrity.
