Maybe you should re read my post, I never said anything about a american revolution, and I said I do NOT believe in violence.
Obviously you misinterpreted what I said, or you didnt read it and responded????? I dont think I could make it any more clear what I said?

I took you literally at your word "the people in America who disagree with the evil in government, but who sit silently are just as bad......" Taking people at there word is how I am genetically programmed. If you did not mean what you wrote pray do tell us what you really mean.

Just what I said, that is what I mean. For instance, if you dont believe in the Iraq war, but you sit in your house and never say anything about it, like the majority does, then you are just as bad as the people who believe the war is good. How do you expect change if your voice is never heard? This is the same idea that I quoted King with in my post.

I am thinking you are Pro war?

Whether I am pro-war or not, I am disarmed. As Chairman Mao said : Power comes from the barrel of a gun.

The government has the guns. What they do, they do and there is not a damned thing we can do about it. Protest is simply a waste of time, breath and energy.

Democracy in the U.S. is a sham. We have, in effect, a fascist system. Suck it up, learn to relax or move out of the country. I am staying because I speak the language and it is no better in other industrial countries.

I bear no moral onus on what I did not start and what I cannot prevent. Go talk to the people who do evil and don't bother me. I am just a powerless bystander.

Roadracer, on what basis do you assume that most Americans are "sitting in their houses, never saying anything" about the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan? I certainly have heard quite a bit, and read quite a bit in both editorial columns and letters to the editors of the local papers, regarding the fighting there. (I refuse to use the word "war" to dignify this borderline-criminal action, as the Constitution of the United States says quite clearly that only Congress has the authority to declare war - they can't pass it off to the executive branch with some weasel-worded "authorization for military action".)

For that matter, as anyone who has been in my presence for, oh, about the last seven years could tell you, I personally have said quite a bit on the topic - hardly "sitting in my house, never saying anything".

As a nation, we recently elected Barack Obama to the office of the Presidency in part because of his commitment to a specific timetable for withdrawing our forces from Iraq. This also fails to qualify as "sitting in our houses, never saying anything". This is, in fact, the legally-provided method we have for changing those running our government - every four years we vote on President, Vice-President, and Senators, and every six years (on a rotating schedule, so there's usually turnover every other year) we vote on members of the House of Representatives. It's so much less messy than storming the capitol, guns in hand, and history shows we have a far lower likelihood of winding up with some military dictator assuming the title of "president-for-life" that way.

Ruveyn, I live in the state of Washington, whose greatest limitation on firearms ownership (besides the federally-required waiting period, and removal of guns from the hands of convicted felons) is that should one wish a permit to carry a concealed weapon, one must make application to the state, which then has seven business days to show cause why such a permit should not be issued. I don't have to say why I want it - they have to say why I shouldn't get it. Non-concealed firearms are readily available - long arms can be purchased at any pawn shop in town - and this state has no registry of firearms. We don't rise up against the government as an armed rabble because that would be stupid - we already have in place a perfectly good method of expressing our displeasure with our elected representatives, and even changing them when we wish.

Your right, I probably didnt say that right, but even with change happening with Obama in office, still to many people are silent about there views, that was the point I was trying to make. A person can disagree, like most americans diagree with the wars, but how many of them actualy made there voice heard so the wars could have been stoped years ago, or not even started in the first place. Just waighting till election time, then electing someone to take care of the problem, sure it helps, but is a passive way of dealing with things. How many people died while waighting around those years till election time.

and I dont know why people keep thinking I am talking about a revolution, I never said anything like that, and I also said a bunch of times I am against violence.

ruveyn,
Your wrong, guns are NOT powerful, they do not lead to change, you can not force someone to change by putting a gun to them. You are NOT "powerless", you have the power of words and the ability of determination.

So why does each and every election produce sh*t? I will tell you why. The American electorate, by and large, is either brain dead or sleep walking. Democracy is a long running practical joke. The rich and the mighty, do pretty much as they damn please which is what the rich and mighty have always done. We have, in theory, a non-violent way of cleaning out our stables, but it never happens. Why?
