Tell that to black Americans who can vote or eat anywhere they want to now, thanks to the federal government. Or tell that to working people who can work in safe conditions during an eight hour day, get overtime, etc, thanks to the feds.

According to the Libertarians, those are all very bad, evil things.

Then libertarians ought to walk in the shoes of minorities or working people once in a while to see things from a different perspective.

You know full well that Libertarians do not support racism or abusive work conditions.

You are lying and I hope that the rest of the readers recognize your childish behavior for what it is.

Libertarians support the abolishment of laws that protect workers and minorities from the majority or from exploitive businesses, so no.

Are all liberals homogenous? Conservatives? Feminists? Then why do you keep acting like libertarians are all the same? (this is aimed at more than you, you're just the latest in the pileup)

That's something the right refuses to consider. Delayed medical help is better then no medical help.

Actually, it's not.

In 2004, I had a CT scan of my sinuses for a procedure. Took around 15-20 minutes and had to lay in a somewhat uncomfortable position so they could get the angle they needed. Scan did one "slide" of my head at a time.

Yesterday, had another CT scan for another procedure. Insurance made me wait 2-3 months because they considered the issue "pre-existing" (my complaint was ever worsening migraines...which might indeed have been pre-existing, but you'd only know with a scan to see if it was structural or a disease). This time, I laid flat and the scan was done in under 5 minutes. The new machine spun at high speed and scanned me like a spiral-sliced ham.

Without the profit motive, innovations in technology to make care faster and more effective (never mind the newer machines give you lower radiation exposure) likely won't happen. The new machines aren't cheap, and you really can't justify using them over an old CT machine so long as time and radiation exposure isn't a critical issue.

From day one, all we needed in the USA were key reforms to end some of the abuses going on with health care. Simple 20-page laws to address each issue and see how the market adapts. The ACA does next to nothing to solve our health care ills but instead allows the government to expand its power of this section of the economy.

Oh, and the whole pre-existing thing? Well, my initial visit is still waiting to be paid. Doc billed over $200 for the visit. I paid my co-pay, but I know they would get less money from the insurance company. Doc's billing office is still debating what to do. I assert that I shouldn't have to pay a penny more than they would have gotten from the insurance company.

By contrast, the CT scan people billed the insurance company over $800 for 5 minutes of work. They know they will get around $500, and I'll have to pay about $55 (in addition to my co-pay) per the terms of my insurance policy. This "bill padding" is the norm, and every medical practice admits to doing it. To get the money they need to turn a profit and justify being open for business, they have to inflate their costs so when they get their "X% of 'usual and customary'", it's the amount the need.

My chiropractor/acupuncturist bills me $45 in cash each visit. To go through insurance, he has to bill a lot more. He's debating going "cash only" just because he's tired of the headache of dealing with insurance plans.

Since when? Libertarians certainly would never want the government to interfere with racism and abusive work conditions, and won't countenance unions and minimum wage laws.

Well, yes. I can see your point. People looking down their noses at the less-well-functioning among us isn't very nice, to say the least.

While there may be some diversity among people who call themselves "Libertarians" outside of the USA, within the USA they are all pretty much the same, right down to their IQ levels.

They're carrying guns, waving signs and placards at "tea parties", reading nonsensical newsletters, listening to hate radio, etc. etc.

I'm not getting your point. You still got your scan. If someone has to wait a while for a scan, but still does eventually get it, it's still better than not getting it at all.
Admittedly, the ACA isn't perfect, but until problems which you brought up are addressed, it's still better than not having that medical coverage.
And on a related point - best not to bring up chiropractors with me, because I consider them to be quacks and frauds.

If you don't like me calling you a duck, stop waddling and quacking. Considering that you're on your second username and still acting exactly the same though, I'm not sure you can even help it.

okay.... what if you could not get the CT scan in the first place because of no health insurance and no money? is that really better than getting the CT scan later?

You do realize that with tens of millions of newly insured people, the profits for medical facilities and medical practitioners is going to shyrocket based on increased traffic alone, don't you? Do you also realize that the biggest cuts profit (other than those who cannot pay) come from the limitations of Medicare and Medcaid compensation (which were recently further restricted) and not from getting less cash from the insurance company?
