To those asking if xenophobia here is just a race thing - no. They pulled that f-ing birtherism s**t on a white Republican as well. Ted Cruz? I think... It was brought against someone due to Canada.
This country is xenophobic as f. The day we finally become an open country is the day that clause goes away or one that changes the wording so that people who have lived their whole or most of their lives here aren’t ostracized against in a BS manner.
Also yes their original intention was the British. But it says a lot that birtherism is a thing and that that s**t is still around.

I already know that xenophobia is a fear of outsiders where as racism is the belief that your own race is above and superior to all other races.
But you do realize that there are countries out there that are far worse than us when it comes to both xenophobia and racism right? Take Japan for example, as much as I love Japan if you aren't Japanese you are basically regarded as being a second class citizen in that country even if you have the legal right to be there. Japanese hoodlums will attack people just for being foreigners and there are shops that refuse to do business with foreigners and landowners who refuse to rent homes to anybody regarded as a foreigner. This is also a country that at one point in history tried to kill every foreign man, woman, and child in their country just like China did.
Be glad Americans aren't doing that and they probably never will even if they wanted to because we have too many different ethnicities living in our country

I'm past the "be thankful" point.
"Be thankful it's not as xenophobic as other places."
"Be thankful you're not getting thrown off a rooftop."
Fact is - it's not great here and it never was. My optimism for people died in 2016. I used to believe in MLK's and the X-Men's dream, now I see it was just a fairy tale. MLK and Magneto were always right. Hold on to your optimism though for as long as you can. When/if Rome falls I'm already planning on just emigrating and letting America rot. This is where I live, but I do not care for this country nor other countries - I have strings to nowhere, the world (not a country) is my home and it's been that way ever since I was a kid. I do not wish to care for a country that never cared for me. You and others can call that cold. In some regards I am cold. I wasn't always that way, but cynicism borne of experience.

What about your family? Didn't they care for you? And didn't you say they were Americans?
I guess that's what separates people like me from people like you. I try to see the beauty in everything and I want to believe that there is still good in people even after they do really horrible things.

People are not a country. If aliens invaded tomorrow people would come to realize this very simple fact and yet they never do.I have no doubt that if Rome falls in their lifetime they're going to leave as well. But, I won't miss it. I have no attachment to it and I never will.
"Some people see what is and ask why, others see what can be and ask why not."
I'd say the interesting thing here is - I used to believe in MLK's dream. Now I, similar to X, view MLK as naive. That said I do wish for people to hold onto their optimism as long as they can. Interestingly the older MLK got, he was becoming increasingly pessimistic as well which makes me question how far that way he would have went if he wasn't killed.
This partly goes into the evolution of MLK's beliefs from optimism to growing more pessimistic over time:

I'm afraid I really can't sympathize with anybody who sides with Malcolm X because he is a monster. Not all white people are "devils" and they don't deserve mass genocide just because of the color of their skin which is basically what he and his followers are rooting for.

I do not agree with "white devil" - but I do believe in not bending over and I do not believe people will ever truly change.
Show where X called for "genocide." He called for fighting back when struck rather than nonviolence but that isn't genocide.

Well seeing how he views all white people as the devil I bet he would OK with the idea. That's pretty much how genocide always starts you know. All it takes is a group of people who demonize another group of people just like when the Nazis decided that the Jews were all evil and needed to be destroyed.

Malcolm X's trip to Mecca:
An entry dated April 17, 1964, describes the crowds praying as being of "all colours, bowing in unison" and that watching them he was "not conscious of colour for the first time in my life". He added: "The whites don't seem white."
Other entries show how he then realised that it was not race but a person's intentions that mattered. "Out of the sudden darkness comes sudden light. My, how fortune can change," he wrote.
On his return to America he broke with the hardline Nation of Islam and formed the Organisation of Afro-American Unity, an act that many believe led to his assassination in New York on Feb 21, 1965.

I believe your view of X, forgive me if I'm wrong, comes more from how you've heard people around you speak of him. I can only imagine in places like Georgia, from how you've described it, someone like X would be supremely demonized. X never preached genocide and towards the end of his life he saw intent rather than race as the driving factor.
The difference being MLK was optimistic to a fault, whereas X didn't buy into optimism. MLK believed in trying to get oppressors to give in to their better angels, while X believed you have to be the change to stop oppression and rather than being thankful and relying on only hope - to focus on you and your people.

I never said I believe that half the nation is fascist. That in mind, I do believe that race baiting is a very effective tool to win CERTAIN minority communities.
I was addressing the people in last page or so going on and on about how all trump supports are racist rednecks or whatever and no blacks minority’s would support trump unless they’d a Uncle Tom basically. Or as Clinton called them deployables. Anything to make their side seem to 90% of the population and some holy moral saints.
Half the nation voted for and supports trump, it’s talk like this why he won and will win again. The left has such disdain for anyone that doesn’t tote their party line. I know why the politicians say it and they know it’s not true but I’m very concerned as it seems many here actually believe only 10 percent of the population supports trump or votes republican and they all a bunch of racist red necks or traitors to their race. About 49% of the nation voted for trump. The same percentage voted for republicans in my state yet left here talks as if they are the 90% as well and speak on behalf of all of Oregon, when in reality they only speak for Portland and Salem.
It’s quite concerning to me.
Edit
I came to the realization just now they dehumanizing their opponents much like both sides did in ww2
Japs are just bunch of monkeys
Japanese said we were without honor and subhuman.
By classifying all republicans as racists they lower them as subhuman in the eyes of their side not worthy of respect.
It might unite the fringes in their side but it’s also making people who were do hard Democrats and liberals run from the party. Honestly while I may agree with quite a few issues the left does I think I should leave the party it’s so filled of hate now for anyone not toting the party line.

While Trump supporters continues to show bigotry towards anyone born different and expects the left (who are mostly minorities) to be tolerant of that. The reason I say Trump supporters is - despite how much Trumpsters want to deny it, there also many right-wingers just as appalled by their blatant bigotry and even called them out for it. To group these right-wingers in with Trump supporters would be doing them a disservice.
I also say Trump supporters because Trump lost a good number of people who originally voted for him due to waking up to his bigotry and are now calling him out for it. These people as well do not deserve to be lumped in.

The blatant bigotry that Trump and many of his supporters show for minorities and their blindness or support for it is quite concerning for the majority of the country both left and right-wing alike.

Oh Ok. I guess that makes sense?
I wonder how people in this country would take to a Native American becoming president?
Considering the vast number who claim to be part Cherokee, hopefully it wouldn't be an issue.
But what about one who was full blooded? They should technically be considered a "natural born citizen" but if people opposed one who was running for president I guess that would prove that racism is still a big issue in this country.
Technically they aren’t citizens though as Indian land is a sovereign nation from my understanding bench why us law enforcement can’t do anything on native land and native law enforcement is in charge.
We have no constitutional rights on Indian land.
“Tribal sovereignty in the United States refers to the inherent authority of indigenous tribes to govern themselves within the borders of the United States of America. The federal government recognizes tribal nations as “domestic dependent nations” and has established a number of laws attempting to clarify the relationship between the federal, state, and tribal governments. The Constitution and later federal laws grant local sovereignty to tribal nations, yet do not grant full sovereignty equivalent to foreign nations, hence the term “domestic dependent nations”.”

But all you have to do is look to what the left did to Ted cruise.
Both sides will use whatever tactic they can to try to win elections. So yes if he’d been white they republicans would have called into question his birth in attempt to win elections.

Donald Trump Goes 'Birther' On Ted Cruz
https://www.npr.org/2016/01/05/46208387 ... n-ted-cruz
"Republicans are going to have to ask themselves the question: 'Do we want a candidate who could be tied up in court for two years?' That'd be a big problem," Trump said of Cruz's birthplace and citizenship in an interview with the Washington Post. "It'd be a very precarious one for Republicans because he'd be running and the courts may take a long time to make a decision. You don't want to be running and have that kind of thing over your head."
In December 2014, he also told ABC, "I think he's a really nice guy, I've gotten to know him a little bit, but I think if he's born in Canada it's a problem, no question about it."
