Healthy food for everybody.
No thank. I like my fried chicken.
Oh, that reminds me. I'm amending my vision of utopia.
Canada, only a little warmer,
and with US-style KFC. (I don't know what it is, but the chicken at Canadian KFCs just don't taste right-- and the ones I've been to don't even serve biscuits.)
That's just KFC; their chicken sucks (though, the no biscuits thing is weird). Popeye's is way better.
It isn't just KFC as a whole, though. All the KFCs up here are operated by a Canadian company called Priszm on behalf of the American owner Yum! Brands. It's not just subtle differences in the recipes-- the way KFC is marketed to Canadians is completely different. In the US, it still stays somewhat true to Col. Sanders's original intent, to be a "Southern cooking" franchise-- hence the biscuits, and mashed potatoes with gravy, and cole slaw. Here, walking into KFC is about the same as walking into any other generic fast food place. There aren't any biscuits, you have to settle for fries instead of mashed potatoes, and you're more likely to end up with poutine here than cole slaw.
But anyway... yes, I agree with you. Popeye's is great too. Sadly, that's another franchise I haven't seen up here (although, I think I've seen some Church's up here).

Meat substitutes are generally gross...which is why McDonald's burgers and Taco Bell's "beef" is so bad.
Did you happen to see Stephen Colbert mention Taco Bell's "beef" on his show tonight? Apparently one of the "filler" ingredients they put in their meat is silicon dioxide-- which, as Stephen pointed out to his viewers, is basically
sand.
Another reason for me to never eat at Taco Bell.
