The guy requested the firing squad. As morbid as it is, I'd definitely choose firing squad over lethal injection if given the choice too. Just seems like a more dignified way to die rather than a slow death strapped to a table like an animal.

Animals die by being whacked on the head with a mallet or having their necks wrung. Any kind of death is not dignified. You frequently crap in your pants.

Eh, I suppose that is best to do.

IF they are well aimed?

There is evidence that lethal injection can be quite painful and take a relatively long time.

Is there actually empirical evidence of this? I know there has been controversy about that, anyhow I think that probably a direct gunshot in the back of the head might be more humanly than lethal injection after all, if that's the case.

The physical shock/impact of several 30 cal. bullets hitting withing milliseconds should render the victim unconscious very quickly. Death follows quickly also.

I thought the condemned got only one bullet.

Anyway, I come to think that the worse thing about getting shot is surviving.

Anyone who considers getting into a face off with a gun is a guarantee of security is off his rocker.

It's not a guarantee and it should not be marketed as such. What carrying a gun does do is tip the odds more in your favor if you do find yourself confronted by a violent criminal. It's kind of like carrying a little insurance policy: you hope you never need it but boy are you glad to have it if you do!

Reaching for a gun when someone is expecting resistance or has the drop on you is pretty much guaranteed suicide.

Most criminals go find a softer target instead if they expect resistance unless there is potential for a massive payout. If you were a mugger in a dark parking lot would you go after the guy with the NRA or USMC sticker on his truck or the lady with the Obama 2008 sticker on her car?

Heck, the guy with the USMC sticker might not even need a gun. He'd whoop the mugger either way.

As opposed to being raped, tortured, and then stuffed in a trash can?

Here's the way to do that:

Put the image url in between . Like so:

Handling these properly will not kill you,

But handling these consistently will, as they did my dad at age 45 after smoking a few daily for 32 years,

Remind me again of the purpose of guns, please.

Aside from somehow protecting yourself from other people with guns, of course.

They also protect you from deadly force or severe bodily harm from people using melee weapons or strongarm tactics against the disabled.
A lot of Europeans also overlook that target shooting can be a whole lot of fun! :D

They will go up in value when the government inevitably bans them.

If the government banned them, they would be legal to keep but illegal to sell to another person so they would only be valuable on the black market.

Depends on the gun, some are designed for target shooting, some for hunting, others for self defense, the only common feature is that they all use expanding gas to propel a lump of lead down a long tube. The question is too general, that's sort of like asking for one purpose for all cars, some are for racing, others for hauling people around or off-roading, they share common design features but have radically different purposes.

Border towns in Mexico, Brazil, sub-saharan Africa (particularly South Africa), Iraq (non-combat related), and Russia are all worse than New Orleans. Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, and Russia all have stricter gun laws too! There are others but I can't list them all in a timely manner.

You live in Ciudad Juarez? At least you have the choice to protect yourself or not, citizens of that blighted city don't have any say in the matter.
