What we don't need is teeny tiny government and super-large business organizations whose actions are unaccountable for. What we need is small government AND small business. Enough small businesses can take care of the material needs of the nation.

On your first sentence, it seems as though you wouldn't be opposed to large businesses if they somehow were capable of being made accountable for their actions. How would you propose that be done? On the second, I have issues with the term(s) "small/big government"; exactly how are those defined? Nobody seems to have an answer. I agree with the third sentence.

While I also agree with this, I think there's a larger issue that must be addressed concerning the way corporations get this large in the first place. No one can dispute that it's because some in business have gotten political power through some means and used it to write legislation in their favor. How does a government keep that from happening?

They can only get that large with the help of the government.

You asked how the government can stop that from happening, it's kind of self explanatory if you recognize that it is the government that props these institutions up. There needs to be less government regulation and subsidization because it stifles competition and creates monopolies. They don't hurt the big guy that much but it cripples the little guy and drives him out of business. The lobbyists and the politicians that push for these are under influence of these big corporations.

Doesn't even Canada primarily run their socialized healthcare through the Provinces instead all of it in Ottawa?

That's that crazy thing about all attempts to push social programs on America. They want to run everything out of Washington D.C. as single massive programs. At least that's how it seems to me.

Ours is a hybrid system. Ottawa provides transfers to the provinces for health, education and social services and the provinces each have their own programs to deliver those. In exchange for the cash, Canada sets some national standards, such as universal coverage for medically necessary care, and prohibitions againts extra billing.

Tell that to Rockefeller, Morgan, Carnegie, Vanderbilt....

Corrupt government helps, responsible government should serve as a barrier and did until Reagan deregulated everything.

Someone's obviously working it and using what tiny bit they have gotten to get 'support' for themselves, and I don't mean Ron or the audience. Also, he didn't even have a moment to say whether he agreed with the guy choosing insurance after recovery or not. He was interupted, and it went from there.

The problem is too much regulation, not too little.

Rockefeller, didn't he start the public library system?

I know Carnegie did something important.
